  1. My first summer in our present house was 2017. And that's the first year I had a garden. Not a lot of space. And I always say I'll keep it small, but I keep making it bigger than planned. Started seeds last week, including tropical milkweed. (We don't tend to plant outside until Memorial Day in these parts.) So of course today my cat got into the seedlings in the mini greenhouse in the livingroom window.
  2. From Chris I learned you need to take a flashlight. Especially if you're going to be visiting hotel rooms to do the early browsing/shopping.
  3. The arcs look like play damage, known as "moons". The maker?
  4. I am fine with that being Marble King. I have been disappointed that I haven't been able to find 1" Marble King vaseline glass in my stores in the attic. I was sure I had quite a lot of it. Maybe I sold it. I still have many of the 5/8" version which Marble King made. Modern marbles which I bought from someone selling Marble King in bulk in around 2005.
  5. If Ric hadn't said anything I would feel comfortable calling it a Bennington.
  6. Parrot on the left. I will have to google to see what a Moby Dick is. Edit: No, Google didn't tell me!
  7. What marbley thing are you doing today ... besides posting on the forum? I'm backlighting Muddies.
  8. What's interesting to me is that Josh posted in this thread and didn't suggest Jabo as a possibility for the OP. That's one I was waiting to hear about. If he doesn't see Jabo, I guess that bodes well for vintage at least.
  9. That Ravenswood thread you linked to in another thread today made me think of this marble again. https://marbleconnection.com/topic/7584-ravenswood-novelty-marbles-a-review-of-varieties/?do=findComment&comment=67114 http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/Eyesofsilver/Marbles/Ravenswood/IMG_6172.jpg
  10. I was going to give her Pelt on the right, but since I didn't know who made that left so I hesitated to post. On the left I was thrown by the two-tone appearance of the blue, but maybe it's the same shade just with some ribbons running deeper than the others. Immaterial. Doesn't tell me anything about the maker either way. Just struck me.
  11. As with the mica discussion earlier, your familiarity with the stone version is forming a bit of an obstacle to understanding the appearance of the glass version. (Edit: Is that a stone obelisk? It's definitely different from the glass typically seen in marbles.) Chad's photo shows what a Shimmering Spruce will look like. The Spruce aventurine is different from the mineral. And it will be clearly visible at the surface of the marble. Your ribbons have a depth pointing to an older Alley or a different maker.
  12. If your marble is an Alley, then I think it is a little older than the Shimmering Spruce. Not quite 100 years old, but nearly. Of course with the basic green and white it could be other makers.
  13. Not a Shimmering Spruce. Compare to this shimmering spruce posted by @Chad G.
  14. My brother shared this app with me. https://1001albumsgenerator.com/ An album a day, if you choose. I don't check in that often. But I'm experiencing some interesting albums ... and some I never want to hear again! Today is Cat Stevens' Tea for the Tillerman, so I'm pretty happy.
  15. Akro's 2-color patch-style marbles
  16. That looks like the white goes all the way through and qualifies as the base. So my vote is for Akro Royal. But it will not hurt my feelings if others disagree.
  17. What does that marble look like backlit? Is the interior clear or does that slightly translucent looking white go all the way through?
  18. Thanks. I'm strongly considering Akro Royal here ....
  19. As noted, the second is a Vitro. Lemonades are Akros. Mojo posted a Lemonade here ... and a LImeade. https://marbleconnection.com/topic/34594-akro
