Ghosts and Shimmering Spruces are also from St. Marys?
  2. I can't recall ever hearing about what causes the purple glow. It's faint, right?

These colors are pretty close. (Look how white one of the bases is ... practically Christensen-Agate-white.) Meant to include the bag and label in the pic. Ooops. Here's the label.

Could be. Mine seem significantly darker but maybe that's lighting. .... LOL ... why don't I got get that picture now. No more excuses. BRB.
  5. I think Multi-Color Rainbo. That's a misleading name though. It's not "just a Rainbo". I think this one is from the National Line era.
  6. Some kind of painting/glaze is my best guess. Have seen coatings on ceramic and have seen them on glass. But this last view looks nice and Christensen-y again. Still don't think it is Christensen, but it's cool that it has that look. The "road and tunnel" look. You have a yellow tunnel and a blue and orange road.
  7. Hmmmm ... looks different now. That looks like paint. Could the marble be something other than glass? Could it be painted ceramic? How tiny?
  8. Yes, it is interesting. First thought with the colors and stripes and the line down the middle is Christensen Agate ... but immediately following on the heels of that impression is that if it is Christensen, it might have been melted after it was made. Definitely looking for both more pics and more suggestions. Not an obvious answer here for me.

Helpful photos. Thanks, Jerry. Big yes to St. Marys. My marbles are out of their Mr. Peanut bag but for the life of me, I can't see the hole they came out of. Did I cut it open or was it loose, I don't know -- where's that hole? There it is. Apparently I made a small incision. #BadSteph Yes, and where are my pictures? I'll definitely get some pictures if no one comes up with the color combo I'm looking at. Which I will describe as green on teal. Hope I can capture it. P.s., Thank you, Paul, OF COURSE!
  10. So, actually I think I might see cutline in the top left one of your new photo. Do you see a little arc with what may be eyelashes just under the center ... just under the lightspot. From here, that's looking like a Master cutline. I don't think of Master when I think of bright glow. But they look old. And maybe Master had more glow than I knew about. For myself I'd save 'em because I love glow ... and then as you learn more, you can go back to them and see if you see signs of structure which would give you further clues as you learn more about structure. My very most stunningly brightest glowing marble is translucent ... and finally I noticed something in the glow -- a little coiling -- which tipped me off that I had a handgathered marble. And still later I learned that it might be a Peltier Canary. Never learned if it had any particular value. I've just loved it all along the way.
  11. Hmmm ... odd that the lemonade is looking so natural. I take my black light pix on a black background in a dark closet, with no flash of course! LOL. And then I (used to) play with the background in photoshop to get rid of the dull purple background that my camera insisted on giving me and bring the congras closer to what I was seeing in person. ... but for ID purposes, best not to have the blacklight on
  12. These are Akro Limeades. Gonna have nice glow but agree -- not as knock your socks off as the lemonades.
  13. (You don't have a blacklight on already do you? I thought maybe you might but the lemonade wasn't glowing, so I guessed not after all.)
  14. OMG ... is that a sunlight picture? flash? Those look like they oughta light up under blacklight. The top left is an Akro Lemonade Oxblood. Are the others clearies? Translucent? Do they have any cutlines that you can identify?
  15. Speaking of physics, of all the fascinating bits in this run the one which took me the longest to catch, and which I rate up near the top in the design, is where the glass marbles and steelies were set rolling at once then they separated by weight and did their separate jobs.
  16. Fascinating! What an amazing pair to have. Nice way to wake up on a Saturday.

    St. Marys Alleys

For fun ... a 1953 ad .... assuming the pictures show up ... (Photobucket is undergoing maintenance so I hope they show.) I consider the swirls Alleys ... even though this is four years into the Marble King company's existence. Now you have me wondering about the clearies .... good chance Alley made those also but I have no idea .... and I guess I consider them Marble Kings just because they're in the Marble King packaging. But I wonder what they would look like under blacklight -- if blacklight revealed a swirly interior I might start looking at them as Alleys.

Berry Pink ... AKA the Marble King. I consider the basic St. Marys swirls to be Alley even when they show up in MK bags. When MK was starting up they had much leftover Alley stock which they used while they perfected their own style. Edit: their style being the Rainbows and four-bladed cat's eyes. I don't know if they ever ran Alley-like marbles of their own, but I haven't heard that they did. Have heard of Marble King swirls -- with colors similar to Marble King Rainbows -- but am not aware of those being sold back then.
  19. Here's a small and blurry pic of some St. Marys Alleys which yours might fit in with.
