Not enough views for me to feel comfortable guessing.

This is a sort of Rainbo style marble (like a Peltier Rainbo). However, I suspect it might be Japanese. It has condition issues. I wouldn't have a guess for value of a Japanese marble of that size. When a marble is not mint, it can cut the value by half or more.

Cat's Eye. My first thought is 1950's Japanese. The base glass is clear enough that it might have a chance of being American. If you wanted to post it for $1, you might eventually find a buyer. In general a single-color four vane cat's eye will be worth less than that. Again, perhaps only a nickel. Oh yes, again, what is the size? If it is a larger marble you could ask more.

Hello again. That looks like clay or stone. How heavy is it relatively speaking? I don't think this marble would have a value which would make it worth the cost of shipping. We could be talking about 5 cents. Lack of visual appeal makes old earthenware and clay marbles not that valuable in general. Being candid here because you sound like that is what you want. p.s., what size is it? Larger marbles could be worth more even when they are plain.
  5. I think we saw this before, didn't we? Pictures much improved from what I remember. Still looks kinda like a toy ball to me.

  7. I compiled a list once of different things people suggested. Posted it here, http://marbleconnection.com/topic/7149-removing-rust/, and there are additional comments and caveats there too.
  8. LOL @ the almost marbles sequence. The dodo pic is profound .....

  10. That's why I can't ever get a file going on exotics! Someone is always joking!
  11. The blue and red one is the Cobra? A cyclone is a guinea with at least one side which gets all tangled up inside?
  12. So when I make my file on exotics, I should include these? I've read gazillions of pages about exotics but never been sure what they were.
  13. Pretty sure they were close. I've scoffed at the "hard as flint" part though. I LOVE the language, including the boasting.
  14. Bump in case Chuck G is still in the neighborhood.
  15. In case you don't have any of George's posters, well, they're great. Quite comprehensive. This arrived in the mail today along with other nifty historical items.
  16. It's a bit of a mindbender to try to match the shadow calligraphy up with the vine's curls. Loving it.
  17. That could be it. Gonna have to do some more experimenting now with mibs where the halo of speckles was easier to see. Definite improvements here though. The reflection which looks like a small moon is from the table lamp. First here are a couple of shots with both the red eye and the Safety FE turned off. Then the third pic is with the Safety FE turned back on. Would the Safety FE do any speckling?
