  1. Love it. I see two of the connections. Are there more?
  2. I doubt that Akro's Aces bring more than regular white-based corks. I could be mistaken but most people don't know about them so I don't think there's a particular market for them. I try to talk them up but I'm not sure they've caught on. When collectors mention Aces they're usually talking about marbles with a moss agate base such as these: http://marbleforum.blogspot.com/2008/07/akro-aces-circa-1930s-or-40s.html I haven't been shopping on ebay for awhile so I don't know how the prices are trending. My only strategy suggestion is to watch auctions long enough to register the trends. Other people may be more helpful. For some reason the rule of thumb I think of between mint and non-mint is expect about 1/6 of the price with non-mint. Not sure why, but that's the figure which is stuck in my head.
  3. That thought had occurred to me at some point in the past few months. I considered starting a new thread to ask.
  4. Here's some info on Akro's version of Aces: http://marbleconnection.com/topic/17380-akro-aces-early-1930s/ Most people don't think to check their white based corkscrews to see if there is any glow inside. And sometimes the Ace is so dense that you won't see the glow even with a strong light, so often Aces are missed. If you can't detect the glow maybe it shouldn't count as special, but it still does to me if I think it's from an actual Ace run.
  5. Thank you for keeping us abreast of marbles in modern culture. No ... seriously!
  6. That's a fancy one. Does not look American to me.
  7. It has what is known as the Pelt flip-flop. The 2nd white, hidden up in that top right corner, may look like it is on what I am calling "Side 1" but I'm guessing if I got to see the marble up close I would be convinced it actually was on Side 2.
  8. What is the blue, green and white one called? http://marbleconnection.com/gallery/image/4631-peltiers/ (I've been cruising around the gallery. )
  9. Jan. 15 A nod to our gallery This appears to be one of the first images. From JVVmarbles.
  10. I figured they probably all had decent glow. But the brightest one is so bright the camera doesn't pick up the light from the other. I sold quite a few fluorescent marbles for awhile and I got pretty good at finding which colors and light levels might camera would pick up. I'd sell bright lots and sorta bright lots and medium bright lots. Some of blue glowers or multicolor glowers look quite nice on their own but they get drowned out by the strong vaseline glass.
  11. I didn't see you posting or I would have let you have the day.
  12. Salamander! That's the name I was trying to remember! I did a search on "chameleon" and it didn't come up with what I wanted.
  13. Now I feel embarrassed telling a Pelt guru that I'm sure it's a Pelt if he isn't. Chuck, why do you doubt that it's a Pelt? Or were you playing with us?
  14. Well, I'm pretty sure it's a Pelt. What I wonder about is if it has a fancy name.
  15. Looks like you have some Aces in there. The kind Akro called Aces. Not the ones called Aces now. They're probably the least interesting ones to most, but I have a fondness for them.
