  1. When the screen is like that the Dancing With the Stars dancers look like they have very wide hips. Kinda makes me feel better somehow.
  2. Hi Joe. Thanks for making sure we didn't miss that. Winnie posted about them yesterday, before the news hit our continent, I think. Interesting discussion there. http://marbleconnection.com/topic/19077-this-was-news-today/
  3. I don't know how rare orange is. I'd consider the possibility that it's not Akro. Here's a thread with mossy marbles from different makers/sites. http://marbleconnection.com/topic/7863-moss-agate-type-marbles When you read the thread keep in mind it was made in 2008. I might need to edit a little. (: As to translucence or not, the yellow here looks opaque to me:
  4. I'm peeved when someone refers to a human as a pet's owner.
  5. I no longer have the access I used to have to observe trends in mathematical education, but I think they still teach mathematical operations. Also, skill is required to set up a problem reasonably even if you have a calculator capable of solving it. And finally, supposedly, kids are being taught to tell whether the answer they get makes sense. If they should be getting an answer in the millionths and get one in the millions, hopefully they'll have enough numerical sense to recognize it's off.
  6. Neat! Duffy, I let google translate the text for me. It didn't mention the cat's eyes specially but it mentioned that Ms. Kupers' grandchildren would occasionally play with the marbles. So I'll guess some of the grandkids' marbles got put in the box.
  7. Can you tell what it's a reflection of? I can see what looks like someone with long brown hair, but I could also see it as part of a house viewable through a window.
  8. Was there someone who knew Eastern Bloc marbles? What was the gist?
  9. I'm impressed by the hand gathers. But it's more wishful thinking than my gut. There had to be some marbles in the Eastern Bloc countries, but I have no idea what they would have looked like. Maybe after WWII they were all clay. No idea at all.

So that would be the 2nd double compartment bag I know of. Can you tell who made the marbles inside that one? Here's the one I was thinking of:
  11. I can't remember if we heard for sure that someone was currently making marbles over there. Maybe I'm blocking it out in my continuing hope that we're finding the real deal from that part of the world. It would be so great to hear from someone there who could tell us what marbles they had access to in the 30's to 60's.

That only double compartment bag I recall seeing has Pelts in it. No, I can't recall ever having any solid information about who provided the moss agates or peewee patches which have been seen in their other containers. My theories have centered around Berry Pink's known connections with Alley and Peltier during and shortly after his time with Rosenthal, but they're still only theories.

I want to see one of those window bags in person. Or at least a pic of a real one. I wonder how many were ever bought 'coz I'm pretty sure I've never seen one. But I've hardly ever seen a double compartment bag either. As in, I've seen one but that might be all.
  14. I may have some ads mentioning them. Plan is to bring together more Albright stuff, including stuff with CAC overlap.
  15. Bump. I have at least one more little thing to add from the Playthings issue if I can remember how I got the scanner to work ... this is in doubt... but meanwhile here is a box to go with the ad in Post #13. http://marbleconnection.com/gallery/album/324-albright/ Plan is to start an Albright thread "soon" with these and others which may not be from the year 1931. But if anyone wants to keep adding Albright material to this thread, that's cool too.
