  1. It's an Akro salesman sample case from the early 1930's. It was featured in another thread, not from a sale site.
  2. Having any marbles next to it might provide the context to help process the visual cues through our mighty brains.
  3. No guess here but something I'm curious about. In your pic to me there looks like there is some clear area. Some clear glass. Some green glass. Some black glass. And some whispy white. Am I reading the pixels wrong? If there's clear that could make a difference in the ID, I think.
  4. Someone woke me up early this morning. This marble makes it worth it.
  5. Thanks to Bob for covering Saturday. Here's for Sunday. Jan. 12
  6. Hi Andy. It's wonderful to have you. I like vaseline glass a lot but I don't have a collection to speak of.
  7. The first marbles I got which I would have wanted to keep were in the Champion Bicentennial Bag. I got it in my Christmas stocking. It had assorted sizes of clearies, from boulders down to adorable peewees. I guess they were lost in a move. This might be the first interesting marble I got when I started collecting as an adult: I wanted it to be a paper mache ... but the blue and yellow turned out to be paint. I've seen one other like it. Still don't know the origin.
  8. Yowzer ... and apply this comment to all the new Pelt threads! Fabulous! What a wonderful surprise when I clicked on "New Content"!
  9. I hadn't heard of it. But I'm listening to it now. ooh, the lyrics are a little dark for me. I'm a Pollyanna kinda girl most days. p.s., now I hear "shoot you down" somewhere in the lyrics of Gimme That Swing, but mostly I can't make the lyrics out except for the chorus. I just like the tune.
  10. In the vicinity of Rock Hill, SC to be specific ... North Carolinians might be close enough too.
  11. Maybe a pelt guru will show up and surprise me with a name.
  12. The first looks like a Rainbo. I don't know of any special name for that kind of Rainbo. Maybe someone else will. The other three all appear to be Peerless Patches AKA PPPs. I don't think I've ever heard a PPP called by any other collector's name at all. Is the blue on #4 a lot darker than the blue on #2 or is that a trick of the light? Interesting shade.
  13. I just checked out a couple of classic pictures. I'm not up on all the finer distinctions, so I wasn't totally sure, but I thought maybe it would be that. Maybe two of these in this photo would count as Liberty Citruses: Here's another often shared photo:
  14. Interesting question. I've never heard of one.
  15. I win! My prize is the marble, right?
  16. Hey is that a Big Bang spoiler?
  17. So how far is it from the Liberty Citrus?
  18. Galen, do you have an example which would be close to what that one would have looked like before the polish. The colors and swirl pattern, not the condition! (: That would be an interesting side-by-side for discussing polishing.
