  1. Could you take pics from the top looking down and of the base at an angle, so that the texture shows?? Was there any sort of history that came with it?
  2. Wow!! Where did ya look to find that??
  3. Very Cool!!!! Thank you so much!!! I hate to say how far down my "to do" list that may be... But, it is the kind of thing my husband my take on, more for the fun of it, than as a chore.
  4. Yes Pat, THANK YOU!!! Mine hasn't neem working lately (kids......) I should probably do some work on it. This should help a lot!!
  5. NOW we're talkin'!!!! I've seen a lot of beautiful marbles come out of these runs... But, my general feeling is, most are very dark and the colors just don't scream "Made Loud to Play Loud" as well as I'd like them to...... That has just changed!!! THOSE are stellar!!!!
  6. And then..... Ya HAVE to admit, Betty's pretty cute, too..... LOL
  7. This whole argument rolls over into milkglass, too... Any white glass is now considered milkglass... But, the real stuff is supposed to have that "fire." Dani, your center picture is about the best photo of it I've ever seen. It's not easy to catch!! It's just been so long since anyone really cared about milkglass, it doesn't rate the "rants!!" LOL
  8. Man.... That just gets better and better!!! Mmmmmmmm, I noticed that.....
  9. Hmmmmmm, that could be a factor... Barrett-Jackson might throw it over the top!! LOL Clyde. I think that's EXACTLY what that means!!! LOL
  10. The comics were some of the VERY first marbles to be rumored reproduced... VERY early in my collecting, this was happening... I bought one through the Antique Trader, recieved it VERY dirty, tried washing it and the print started to wash off... I packed that puppy back up, sent it back and canceled payment on my check... The woman accused me of sending back a different marble.. Those were the days when picture comparisons just weren't as feasible as they are now... That said.... I'd like to have a serious look at those in Block's book before worrying too much about finding one... NO, I'm not saying I think they're fakes.... ONLY that the possibility exists and should be considered....
  11. Hmmmmm, as rough as I am at machine made ID's, I think I can see that.... Uhhhhh.... Doesn't my comment put me ahead in that line for gimmes?? Ok, I know... I didn't ASK!!! But, but...... LOL
  12. Do any ever have a hole in the back?? Like they were for birthday cake candles?? I think I have a couple of swans like that, I haven't been able to ID...
  13. Paul Gerson was a wonderful friend to a lot of New England marble collectors... He never got too involved in the shows, clubs or gatherings... He simply enjoyed buying and selling at flea markets and antiques shows, as a stress reliever from his "day job" in child psychology. Wherever he showed up, he had a ton of marbles and always something unusual... I think every collector who bought from him thought of him as their "secret source," hoping that no one else had ever run into him!!! LOL Every December, my husband and kids would sneak out on a weekend and meet with Paul to find unique marble presents for me... We had spent many hours talking at shows and he knew what I liked.... At the NE show, I ran across another old friend I hadn't seen for a while, Akro collector Al Morin... Al gave me the bad news that Paul had passed away, very suddenly, on August 1st. I was stunned... Paul was only 65 and had just retired about a year or 2 ago... My heart goes out to his wife, Lani Campbell and their 2 daughters, Kyree and Sienna... And again, James Taylor comes to mind.... "But, I always thought that I'd see you one more time again"
  14. I'm with Alan... It's tough enough for glass artists to keep their glass clean and clear... In the kind of production work of marbles... Antique handmades or machine mades, there are often "inclusions." Oven brick, carbon (ash) dirt.... Whatever flew through the air in the direction of the glass?? Bev Brule's collection has a handmade with a tack in it... I have a couple of handmades with bubbles that have "stuff" moving around in them. Production's not gonna stop for a little gunk in the pot....
  15. I'm thinkin', with the stuff in that last picture, you don't need to BUY anything!!!! LOL
  16. Hey Ann... I'm pretty sure I have some items... I'm leaning toward military medals in particular... Where the word sterling is a part of the casting. I may be forced to eat those words, but I'm kinda really positive I've seen it a number of times... Hey Scott, thanks for being helpful here!! And, thanks to all who will allow him to be. It's a very healthy sign!!
  17. My husband found mine at an antique mall in Vermont... (Whose is that one??)
  18. Hey Gary, great to see you back. 'Hope all is well out there....
  19. And, I'd help!!! There's a thought of a minor possibility.... Likelyhood is about >< that big... But?
  20. I know every time I post that picture, I ask if it's THAT one... It is, right?? (Sorry, sieve-brain syndrome!!!) The thing is... The others look just like it... Those swirly ones are just OVER the top!!!
  21. Thanks Craig!!! Ya know.... You can visit here anytime!!!
