I believe this can be "kinda, sorta" "Marble Related" because, I think (I may stand corrected) that the techniques for the patterns in these figures is very similar to the glass technique of making Murrine / Murrini glass canes... There are marbles made in this substance. Here's Jon's website Thanks Carole!!

Hey Guys, I know there must be some!!! When you get rested, we'd love to hear how it went and if there's pictures.... Did the weather hold at a solid 29.95º this year??

¾ ¢ + ½ ¼ ö ± All of those symbols can be used in ebay passwords... If your super paranoid about having your password hacked, odds are, this is the answer!!! But... Beware... I used to use one that reads one way on my keyboard, but is totally different on other computers!! Now that may be SUPER secure... But, if I'm away from home, I can't even get into my own account!!!

ROFL @ Griff!!! I set up at Brimfield for years... I keep saying I'm going back to shop, but there's a few other things that come along at the same time.... Buying in other places is easy-pickin's when everyone else is at Brimfield!!! Not to mention, no nasty weather, no traffic, no crowds and I can sleep at night!!! LOL I have a couple of stoppers... I'm not sure where they came from. I've had 'em a long time. I'd have to go through paperwork to find out... But, the last one I bought was from Brimfield, for Bev Brule... It was similar to the second one Craig posted. I don't have easy pics to mine, I'll try to get some up this week (If I can figure out where I put them...) My best one doesn't have a "cage," it has a metal shaft hooked into the neck that goes up and right into the marble. When upright, the marble looks like it's just sitting on top of the neck.

Before I became a moderator, I had no clue about how the madness of various personalities effected admins. and mods.... A lot of actions seemed REALLY harsh to me.... I just couldn't believe that people like Alan and Nan could just walk away!!! I mean.... This couldn't be that big of a deal, right??? Once a person gets into a mod or admin position, all that "If you don't like it, don't read it" stuff changes... There is no escape from ANY issue.... I get the feeling, based on what people say to me, that they feel Lou & I have some sort of control over what others say... And, we approve it all!! (How can you let him get away with saying THAT???) We have 2 people who have left the board, who are apparently waiting for apologies before they come back??? Apologies??? If it's from the person the had an issue with, that's between them... If they're looking for an apology from Lou or I??? I don't get it.... If we repremand someone for speaking their mind, we're tyrants... If we don't, we're allowing people to be abusive to others.... Either way, we're in trouble... Not just in a single confrontation, but in EVERY SINGLE confrontation.... A while ago, I posted a message about the need to get work done...(Board Behavior) It was TOTALLY misunderstood by most people.... The point of it was.... I have a life outside of this board and the constant bickering is cutting into it FAR more than I can allow.... Yes, I can address it by not doing mod work, here... But, my point was can YOU address it and take a little more responsibility in your actions?? There are some people, no matter how popular or nice they may be in person, who just thrive on creating problems, needling people or taking a simple post and turning it into WAY more than it ever intended to be... For whatever reason... It's just not fun for most of us to have to deal with this and it's a MAJOR PIA for Lou & I.... It's become apparent, that if those people are politely asked to STOP and they don't... Well??? I think I can speak for Lou (AND Pete at LOM) as far as saying... I just DON'T need to be constantly drilled for my reasoning about how things are handled here.... It's not a major stock bearing company, court of law, or government power... It's a freakin' CHAT BOARD!!! If the "chat" gets to the point where it's interfering with our work and lives, it's time for changes.... I wasn't entirely on board with what Lou did... But, I totally agree that it WILL make our lives a LOT easier... And, it is most likely the only way we can eliminate the problem, without completely shutting down the board.... So.... If you find that you've been harsh to someone and want to smooth it out... Please do it. If you feel you've been verbally abused by someone... Maybe you need to take a long look at how you address others, then grow a little extra skin and toughen up... The whole world isn't "Candy Land" and we're not your buffer to it.... Not everyone thinks and acts like you. Try to spend more time figuring out WHY someone is doing what they do, than reacting to it.... And... If you see something that looks like a polite "Shut Up, Please..." you may want to pay attention, or I can send you a link to where you can go and bitch after you get kicked....

Man, they are cool, though. Especially the second one. I wonder.... If you contacted him and let him know, what would he do?? He may welcome the info and add it to the auction. It doesn't look as if he's trying to be deceptive. -
Or.... Maybe.... A "Funny* Flaming Rainbow??" (* Funny / Scary is optional....)

Edna's certainly right about the machine made marbles... I think the "stone" marbles are just simple unglazed chinas or clay.... The bag is NICE!!! (Though, probably more like 1930's than pre-century) I'm thinkin' this is probably a real-deal estate sort of thing, that's been handed down, acquiring items (and, probably losing items) along the way... Saying it's "pre-1900" is an inaccurate stretch, but I can understand the "not-really-dishonest" reasoning behind it... It doesn't appear to have been an intentional misrepresentation.

Here's a link to that thread, Mike!! World's Best Contemporary Guineas They look great!!!! I wish there was a way to match the marbles to the box, that wasn't a hassle.... Since contemporary marbles have become so popular and well known, I think the signature issue for IDing old vs. new, has become a "non-issue." And, you've covered your butt with the clear coating... But, in that world of numbered, COA kinda stuff, there's usually a way to match each piece to the box. I know, a signature chip with the box number would be a freakin' PIA..... So then, the same old "marking issues" come up... For economy and sanity sake, it looks like you've taken the only path and it's gonna work out fine. I'm bettin' the very best guy to help you out with the boxes, would be Mike Barton...

Hey Winnie, I wouldn't call those "Not so special!!!" They're beautiful!!! Could the 2 Joseph Coats ... Bottom left & Center right.... Be same cane?? They almost look it!!

Has anyone heard from Mr Hardwick??? I'm really getting worried!!! He hasn't posted for a long time. I sent a message and haven't heard back..... Very unusual.... I got an email before the holidays that he was going off to a place where there would be no access... But, I got the impression it was only for a few days.... Maybe I was wrong and it's a longer vacation... But... Wherever he is, I hope he's having a GREAT day!!!!!! Happy Birthday, Bill!!!!!! :Happy_143:
