Okay, better said "German style bread". There are lots of differences between all the kinds of bread around the world and every sort of it tastes its own flavour. Jam and German style bread also is fine. But do not eat "gem on" bread

I should go and suggest a Dubble Bubble Gum Ball Run to yellowmarble - is he still looking for ideas?

Me too This flowbee (or at least something very similar) I remember from one or two TV-ads even here in Germany long ago. Was a root cause for giggles and now is even more. I prefer a clipper and in a few years I will comb my hair with a washcloth

"Do not believe any statistic that you did not doctored yourself." There is no need that by definition half of the people in the world are more or less intelligent than the average. There are several definitions of average and it really depends on how the individual measures are distributed. There might be rare but heavy outliers that rise or lower the average when all the others are close together. Just an example to spread the idea: Lets assume there are 10 measures (of whatever) taken. 9 times we have a 2 and once there is a 10. The simple mean value is defined by summing up those results giving 28 totally and then dividing this total by the count of the results we get 2.8 as the average. So we end up with 9 results below the average and one above. Far away from 50%. When the count of samples rises the difference gets less but please still keep in mind this drastic example. I might be one of those outliers who pull down the average of intelligence in the world.

Is a hotdog a sandwich? I say No. A sandwich takes one (halved) or more slices of bread to put in between what you like. All the hotdogs I got served up to now have the sausage put into a cut in bread roll (bun). So for me a hotdog is not a sandwich. But I like to eat those sausages put between two slices of toasted and buttered bread (German bread, of course). Yummie!

Seems it was me. It is getting to be a marble run again ...

Obviously there are several possibilities for a right answer. Asking my question without any background on the kind of date indeed could be considered "unfair". "House of dates" is something I did not consider but its cool. I had more or less in mind to have a date with someone in a restaurant where dates are served

Best wishes and enjoy the time left over. Hope it gets a farewell without hazzle...

Hi Steph, thank you for still remembering me. Currently I am not so dedicated to new projects but getting the exisiting run to topmost performance. In a few weeks I start joining some exhibitions. Still there are some details I need to rework, too many marbles get lost during operation. I will put some pics (including the new decorations) to the gallery afterwards. Mid of June or so. Maybe I build an -censored- afterwards.

What a nice documentation on that game. Really interesting. Might it be an idea to shift this thread to the "marble runs & games" subforum?

Ah, I see - not easy to fool you My guess was "a candle light dinner at a restaurant"

Hi Steph, Ron Weasly (don't know if I spelled the name right) I recognized at once, but since I am not familiar with the Doctor Who this time I really had to pass. Let's try this one: I am planning to have a date. Where would you suggest me to go to?

Hi raginisharma, could you give me an example what kind of marble runs you assign with Roller Coster? The variety where marbles ride on two guiding rails? Like a railroad track?

Not only to your American ears. I never supposed them to be male names in their origin. Your grandmother's name is somewhat special. I know that French people add 'e' to a male name to indicate it is the female version (Yvon => Yvonne for example). But Eugene to my ears sounds as a male name at first for I do not consider it to be Eugen => Eugene. But this topic is really, really interesting. What was the search entry to get the informations out of wikipedia?

- brilliant. Aubergine is as british noun? I always thought they also know it as 'eggplant' and the origins of 'aubergine' are French. We use it in Germany for exactly the eggplant fruit and all people I know pronounce it a way that resembles me to French speaking. Maybe that is why kbobam just thought of a lady from the south. Names have their very special handling throughout the cultures and regions. I just think of 'Heike'. Here in Germany we use it as a female name but there is this male Dutch physicist Heike Kamerlingh Onnes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heike_Kamerlingh_Onnes).

I think I will appreciate the changes. My problems are just 'error 4711' (see above)

Oh well. First I noticed the difference when reading the eMail notifications and thought something changed on my mail-client... So time to log in after a few days of abstinence - and wow, new look & feel. As with every change I need to get familiar with. One property is annoying: Clicking the eMail link "Go to this post" I directly get where I think I want to be. Then I sign in and am warped back to the very beginning of the thread. I am pretty sure I took the same procedure as every time but maybe I missed a new feature? If not, could you please be so kind and reconfigure the sign-in process to leave me where I currently am? And I really like some of the new emoticons - thanks to the maintennance team: - console I/O error 4711: incompetent user detected! Abort, Retry, Ignore? >_ - call ... me ... now! (always resembles me to a certain german comedy) - Hoody's state of mind Hey team, the most important icon is missing: *thup*

Oh, a door closer operating by its weight. So maybe the holes are for trimming the weight by filling in sand or water?
