  1. No transparent red base here. >Edit = found one very dark transparent red base in my 400 or so Masters. Here is the latest incarnation of the Master box I put together. I keep adjusting it as I get more nice ones. It was a 1900+/- nut cracker and picks set that I gutted. A few favorites and a 31/32" yellow base I'm not sure of. It has the V and U seams. I'm going back and forth between Master & Akro on it. Came to me in a mixed lot with mostly pre 1950 with a few 1950s-1970s.
  2. You will need a couple different grits. I don't know which though. You would start coarse and work your way down to barely gritty. Hover your mouse over the "JVVmarbles" click the little arrow that appears and choose "send message" to send them a personal message. The board will tell them they have a message waiting.
  3. Cool! I do like the marbles pictured on the cover of the box better though.
  4. I'm afraid that question deserves a . . duh. All metal balls are machine made. Steelies are only really marbles if they are hollow with that big X.
  5. The process is/was used a lot in dishes/decorative glass, called "flash" color. Like the auction said, it is a fragile finish and prone to scratches and wear. It would not last long on a marble. They also have to have an unpainted area to stand in the oven/kiln (so they don't stick) or an uncolored punty pontil mark on a marble.

Onionskin Lutz, late 1800s Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm still a newby.
  7. Hi Raymond, I see John is logged out right now. Last weekend he weighed them up on Monday morning at work, then sent us all a PM with the total with both mailing address for checks/mo and paypal addy.
  8. Group 4 #5 Group 5 #2 & 3 Group 6 #5 Got the pair from last weekend. Beautiful! Thanks!
  9. Do'oh! I saw one on eBay quite a while back. They didn't have a shot of the mibs and didn't mention size of them, so, I moved on. Now we'll all be watching for one. .
  10. Beautiful Carole! Congrats!

    Red Slags

Slag assortment with a 100 yr old amber slag sugar bowl. Largest blue 1 3/16, smallest blue a hair larger than a 1/2".
  14. Tiara sold reproduction glassware through "home parties" (like tupperware does).

    Mmmm Sparkly

Glad you like it. Thanks for looking! Here's an underwater shot. The layer of clear over the core sure makes it hard to catch the bling in a picture without water assistance. 3/4"

    Mmmm Sparkly

I can't catch all the bling in this baby. All the brown bands sparkle.
  17. I've had good luck getting adventurine to show by shooting in a darker area and letting the flash do the work. You have to zoom just the right amount for lots of flash, but, not "overexposed"/washed out. About 7" away with my camera. You might try standing it on a small flashlight like this too (just interior bubbles/no adventurine): Of course, direct sunlight at noonish works good too.
  18. Still waiting here too. Did you get an email "order shipped" notice first? Looked like it would be great for newbies from the interior pictures at Schiffer. Won't it be nice when newbies stop asking simple questions. Like this. Is there a pale pink based MK shown? I just found a batch with pink instead of white in the 4 basic MK patch colors (red, green, blue, yellow).
