Everybody loves alley ( don't they )
Chad G. replied to Chad G.'s topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Already I've been told they're gaming marble's, I know better after looking through thousand's of them it become's easy to tell even who made the different gaming mib's. guess we'll find out soon enough. " I bite my tongue Sir !! -
I like the swirl's in them also. I also like the red devil's, Michelangelo and serpentina because of their semblance of a superman. a very few of them are exactly the color's of a pelt. just not the NLR or miller type swirling, both are very distinct.

Marble Packaging pic's, bag,s, boxes, etc.

Those boxes of mib's in the pic's are way above my pay grade, even if I had the money they're impossible to get because collector's have them all, sorry Berryb I'm not a package expert but your right the bag you have is new, look at the staple's, no rust and even if there was people can put a diluted muriatic acid solution on them and they'll rust up in a day, I know because I've been duped before but not in a long time. Generally marble people are very honest and will go the extra yard to help out, I love this hobby I've made some good friend's and acquired some beautiful marble's along the way There's nothin else I'd rather do. Keep diggin !!! Regards, Chad G. -
This is the marble counting mastermind of the deceptive mib hiding duo, don't let those shifty eye's fool you. He's a glass hiding gremlin. 😈 Hidden treasure alright, and you're lookin at Black beard himself !!!

I found a clue as to where the monochrome got it's name. It's not a painting or a television but it certainly goes along w/ the definition. -

Everybody loves alley ( don't they )
Chad G. replied to Chad G.'s topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I have a friend with 2 red one's ( only color I've ever seen ) that's what he's always called them and about 6 month's ago I also seen one sold as an alley monochrome on E bay, also red. I'm curious as to what your name for them is ??? they're definitely alley, after looking at thousand's of alley's I know that you also would agree as to their origin. Do you have any in your collection ?? Not easy to spot unless you have a light on them. When I seen it I knew it was an alley just by the structure, had it for a long time before I learned what it was. What's your opinion Ron? I'll take some new better pic's all the way around the marble after I get a proper lighting setup and repost them on this thread. Sorry meant to post this in your quote Ron. -
^ year's ago before I sold my house to my Sister I had a very nice garden that extended clear across the yard on the sunny side. Lot's of tomatoes, onion's, garlic which I planted in Dec., some butternut squash and my fav. sugar snap peas, I consumed them as fast as they came onto the vine. Kind of miss having a garden, it really kept me busy, most I can have here in this apt. is a tomato plant out on the deck. Good luck on keeping up w/ those cucumber's when they really start to bloom, I have a feeling your neighbor will soon be your best friend.

I have some Vacor that also made it into my collection the same way, when I bought a can or jar or two there where always some Vacor's in the mix. I saved all the mint one's, now I save anything mint. There is a dwindling supply of even what used to be the most common mib. I still have my favorite's but won' turn up my nose to any nice mint marble.

And the gang mentality approach !! A few more pistachio's a calligraphy some what I call lemon meringue's and a few dozen more common alley's next time I load my new pic's, hopefully w/ some new bulb's in the near future, getting tired of lugging my mib's and all my camera junk outside every time I take photo's. These indoor pic's really leave something to be desired. -

Some more ??? Only the second alley red monochrome I've ever seen. nice flame pattern on it, have to wait for my new bulb's to get better pic's, most definitely alley, a classic pattern. These picture's just don't do these mib's any justice. -

A couple of hard to find alley pee-wee's. Both below the .50" mark, true pee-wee's. Not what people call a pee-wee now,( almost always over a bit, not a pee-wee at all just a small marble ) -

I love the spruce collection, those big one's are real boglers. I should have held onto the other five I had, not as much aventurine but as you said everyone like's alley now. When I started collecting it was all about Christensen and German's hardly anyone collected Alley. I guess because they where so common then. Now try and find a nice black lutz or a good spruce, calig. or what have you ( not there ) Glad I held onto what I have now and regret selling what I did. Mostly not happy about the mib's I lost during the divorce. What a bummer, oh well no crying over spilt milk, The hunt goes on. "Thank's for the nice pic's Ron" -
Thought you might like these pic;s Ron !! The big sturgeon isn't mine but I did catch one a little longer in the estuary, just over 12.5 feet, the boat was only 14', the fish pictured was caught near Bonneville dam, you could never hold an estuary fish like they are, the diamond's ( spike's ) on it's back and side's would cut you to ribbon's. The last pic is my baby Brother who passed in 2014. All these where caught in the Columbia river, including the sturgeon

Thank's for the link Al, I don't as of yet have a Facebook account but your offer is very enticing. -
Thank's for the new and current info Al, learning as we go is good medicine. After my time in the Navy I and my Wife lived in Warrenton until the late 80's working @ a place I think you'll remember, Point Adam's Packing, a now long defunct seafood processing plant. My wife of 10 year's passed in 95 of cancer. I moved back to Rainier and began working at Foss maritime in Rainier as a welder building tugboat's, last job before becoming disabled. I appreciate the new info and thank you for sharing about your location's, your only an hour or two from me, man what a small, small world we live in.

Two view's of an alley lutz swirl, one of the cleanest alley's I have and a favorite of mine ( I'm beginning to believe they're all my favorite's ) forgive the fuzziness in the second photo, I must have moved a little bit.
