Whoops, got in a hurry towards the end, Dinner bell was ringing and someone around here gets cranky when the food gets cold! Glad it "fits" though 😏

So it begins, as I expected it would. We haven't heard a peep from Rawlings since it's big announcement of Miken's closing, but some of the more experienced people are moving on. My longtime friend Mike Kasten will be departing after this week for City Brewery in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. He has accepted a position on 3rd shift The money is good and their contribution too 401k is quite generous from what he tells me. He started at Miken 2 years after I did as a molder and by 2013 became 2nd shift Supervisor. Covid19 came along, taking away both that title and 2nd shift. Also, a young man I trained personally for the title of lead in the Surface Prep department 6 years ago for day shift had his interview Friday in Onalaska, Wisconsin for a 3rd shift position at a cheese factory that will pay him $22 an hour starting. I'll miss them both for sure! Alot of experience and talent that will be missed! There's only a few left, me included, that have done and worked every process there. Now minus 2. Can't say I can blame them, nobody knows what the job market will be like a year from now when this place projects too be closing the doors. With winter around the corner, I'm going to stick around for the time being, after much thought of course. Roll the dice. My focus is still with Precision Stainless around the corner from Miken. But not yet, going to keep riding for the time being!

I posted in the Lounge regarding a visit today by Patty's sister and her 2 kids. The youngest, Toby, is the one I gifted the jar of marbles to. They were here still when I got home from work, and before they left with their bounty of veggies. I said "hold on a second". I came back outside with a suprise. I told Toby that I neglected to give him a "shooter" last time and handed him a big Cats Eye. Then Emily, who is a senior this year, I surprised her with a real nice jumbo Jabo with its own little O-ring. She loves it, saying how beautiful it was. Then suddenly there was talk of playing marbles when they got home! Oh boy, I had too hurry back inside and get another shooter for her so she didn't use her nice one! Great day!

Patty had her sister stop by for a visit this afternoon, along with her nephew Toby (who I gifted a jar of mibs too a week ago) and her niece Emily. They hung out for a few hours playing bags and visiting, and when I got home from work, they had just picked a bunch of veggies too take home with them. Emily picked a couple of giant tomatoes, the bigger one weighing 1.6 pounds (pic taken with a penny too show actual size) 😳...

Anytime, Ric! I'm glad you, Chad and others have a good time checking stuff out. Looking forward to next Sunday already, switched church services to Saturday....hopefully everything is hitting our bait alot next week. Did hear the slow day was more than likely due too a spawning period, not sure which species but it sure affected everything we usually catch. Back to work for me 😊

Glad you liked them! But boy, I'll tell you, I'm whooped today! See if I can make it through Monday workday!

Inside the Best Dam Float Restaurant and Lounge....a collection of lures, some were used there and are attached too memories of the many great catches over the years. The enclosed silver box is a 100 years of fishing history. The white board shows the current leaders pertaining to species of fish, length and weight (The 71 pound Sturgeon was just caught this past week!); plus pictures of anglers and their great catches there...The mounted fish were ALL caught there and donated for show. An interesting story with the Largemouth Bass and bluegill, a young boy caught the bluegill and right before he pulled it out of the water, the Bass hit it! The boy got 2 for 1! They removed the bluegill from its stomach too mount with it. Actually I think amongst the pictures you will see the boy holding the Bass with Captain Tom kneeling next to him.

Shifty, crafty, that's about right. Just woke up to get ready for fishing and there are a few scattered on the floor around the entryway too the kitchen. I began to navigate them mentally as I approached while crossing a throw rug. Nailed an unseen 5/8 hiding in the rug. Oww.

Thoughts and prayers too his wife, family and friends...sometimes I wish I would have began collecting years ago just so I could have possibly met some of these folks. I always enjoy reading the posts that reference everyone who I would consider ground breakers and ambassadors too this hobby, including the people who I collaborate with here at MarbleConnection. Be at peace 🙏

Ready too peel the boiled tomatoes, mix with the diced up peppers (jalapeno, sweet banana, sweet apple), fresh onion I just picked up from an Amish homestead, and garlic. Have too mince up the fresh oregano and cilantro now too add too the mix. First batch enough for maybe 8 quart jars.
