    Grenier

This looks like a “folded” Pontil to me. Just the cut off mark folded back into the rounded part by whatever method was used in the rounding process. Marble—On!!
  2. It sure looks like it could be a Vitro doesn't it. The cutoff/shear marks are Akro, there are even a few little eye lashes involved with the fingernail cutoff mark. I would sort this one as an Akro patch type ("tricolor"). All opinions are welcomed and appreciated. Cool Marble! Marble--On!!

    Grenier

I could not find a lot on Grenier marbles but what I did find usually mentioned a ground or faceted pontil opposite the nine. Marble—On Mojo!!
  4. Hello to you and welcome AvvaRae. Chad has these pegged pretty well👍. Marble--On!!
  5. Nope, The small ones in the images are 25mm, or around one inch. These were the size sold in nets at ToyRus. The two biggers sizes were special order only. 45mm and 50MM ( mighty rare on both larger sizes). All sizes are +- a few mm because they were handgathered. Marble--On!!

  11. Perhaps @hdesousa will chime in and give some input with these? Marble--On!!
  12. We are all still learning and this one has had plenty of input from a bunch of great marble folks. Thanks all!! This may just be "one of those" that defies a description or an ID. Thanks for posting it—this is what we all love. I just love this stuff!! I agree with Steph closer to a patch than a swirl. Marble—On!! This may help davesnothere--- Marble--On!!
  13. They are a hard find Al, The #5 boxes were found in some NOS--boxes of them, flat and not filled. Then they were reproduced by someone which were very convincing. The #10s are especially hard to find in any condition worth keeping--or restoring. I could have paid this much for a restoration type box ten years ago—without the marbles—sometimes a person just gets lucky. How many marbles are in your box Al??? Marble—On!!
  14. I am right there with you Ric. That large Heaton box is more than likely the very rarest marble box in existence. Any Heaton packaging is rare to find. This is what drives me—the rare stuff. Marble—On!!
  15. Here we go indeed Tommy. Ya just never know until you find a box or a bag--for sure. Marble--On!!
  16. These are WVS imho. I suck at WVS ID's and hope to see the rest of the folks chime in. Nice ones for sure!! Marble--On!!
  17. This is a rare box that I have been hunting for years. Yes I did pay up—not too bad considering the time and date. The number five boxes are reproduced and refilled because of the way that things work in any collectable. The number five boxes are more common than they should be because of the amount of them found in flats and refilled. The number fives were also reproduced in a way that you may want to research. This is a number 10---very rare. It has been speculated that these were made after the number fives. I wonder? These are the original marbles to the box—all are Master Glass, sixty one—if I counted right. There was not much more room for any others. This is the very best that I have ever seen. I just love this stuff---Keep on hunting!!!! Marble—On!!
  18. Not an Akro Steph--I agree-- Macine made for sure Chad---good eye! What attracted me to comment on this marble is the deep opaque white. The deep extreme white is generally associated with “Batch Glass” or glass made from a recipe vs that from cullet glass. The electricity of the yellow is compounded by the deep white—it is a very nice yellow—very nice indeed. I propose that this is a dug CAC that has been fixed. I appreciate all opinions and hope to see some more. Martble—On!!
  19. Welcome SF2KY and thanks for the story behind the marbles. All New news to me as well--very cool. Marble--On!!
