I was sorting some marbles today and found this one. I just like it and that should be enough in any collector’s world. Marble—On!!

That is one nice clean wet looking marble. Marble--On!!

Hi Ric, Just the way the colors bleed reminds me more of a MK than anything else. Cool little eyelashes to boot. It is a cool little orb, cool little eyelashes to boot. I would sort it as an MK—“blended” something.(you know,--bad on names😁) Marble—On!!

Error marbles used to be rare, when the wild existed. The wild (no pollution from any other outside source) is a rare and highly searched thing in today’s world. If you can find these error marbles in a verified collection that has never seen the internet or other collectors in sales or purchases-- rare imho. Marble—On!!

Regardess of the ID on this one, the OP, It sure looks like a dug/experimental marble to me. A Pelt no doubt--how many dug pelts are out there? A nice marble none-the-less. Marble--On!!

Well said, my marble collecting friend. You keep on keepin on for sure! Thanks, and Marble--On!!

Imho, Oxblood is probably as old as glass is. Akro just perfected it. Marble--On!!!

Vice versa my friend, sorry for the confusion. Augers are a cool thing as are Spirals/Snakes. Augers are a bonus. The Spirals/Snakes come in many different colors and sometimes x2 colors. I could collect these forever and not find all of the colors, combos or variations. Thanks for the correction. Marble--On!!

jameswymer, Once that you get the Oxblood ID in your head, you will never forget it--ever. Research Oxblood on the web and be rewarded. Marble--On!! and Oxblood on as well

I would say that augers are about 75 to one vs Spirals. Not real rare but rare enough. When you have one that glows under UV----😁,----- They are always a nice find. Marble--On!!

The logo is a very fine printing. The detail is top notch. This box may have been produced by the knife company for the Akro folks. This could explain the difference in the logo, letter font and the glossy paper that this box has. If the Knife company produced the box it could explain a lot. This is a very cool item here that is worthy of any investigation and attention. Thanks for sharing it. Marble—On!!

The box is the one thing that may determine age in this instance. The marbles and knife may have been backfilled, very likely backfilled. The box is older Akro imho. My opinion is based on the print of the logo and the print on the ends of the box. I believe that to get an idea of the age of this rare item, we must consider all things and not loose track what the main item is ---the box. Research for advertisements is in order. Marble—On!!!

Is Prize Name the correct description for these corkscrews?
akroorka replied to jameswymer's topic in Marble I.D.'s
Nice "Prize Names"---an Akro Agate marketed term. Marble--On!! -
Steph nailed it, Augers are like a drill bit inside of the glass. Snakes are a corkscrew on the outside or exterior of the marble. Spirals for sure!! Augers were not an intentional thing imho. Just the workings of marble making. Marble--On!!

The "Score!" thread. Post your exciting finds here...

I know that you are into the glow Mojo, I have a veli that glows pink under UV--the white part. Check em out! Marble--On!! -
Mojo made a recent post about some marbles that he is making. I wonder??? Here is a link. Marble—On!! https://marbleconnection.com/topic/28391-marble-making/#comment-247034

Thanks for sharing this hdesousa, It is probably one of one that exists in this shape unless Roger Hardy has one. I love the Akro imprint on the top of the box as well as the side stamp, very old imho. Top Notch for sure. I just love it! Marble--On!!

Good post Chad, these two should be together--at least in a post. What a great little Akro they are!! Marble--On!!

Woodse, Hats off to the folks that keep this a nice place to visit and share. There are many folks from the past, but right now Chad, Steph and Bumblebee deserve the credit for keeping this piece of marble history on the right path. "The Marble Connection" is one of/if not the oldest sites on the net. Salute to you all, past and present. Thanks and, Marble--On!!

This one is 5/8”. This is a very nice corkscrew, Oxblood and Lemonade. This may be the only one that I have seen in this size. Very minty to boot. The Ox has very nice marbling in this one. It lights up as good as it’s bigger siblings for sure. Marble—On!!!

He is the little dude from the Akro O'Boy gift set. I have his big brother, or maybe him at a later age--not Akro, but very cool. I have one of these boxes that needs some attention. I will get to it someday. Thanks, and Marble--On!!
