I will say this in response. Marbles that glow under UV are attracting more attention in the last few "covid years" than in the last twenty and I understand why. My six year old granddaughter really lights up when I can show her a marble or anything for that matter that glows under UV---she really loves collecting fireflies in a jar as I did as a kid and still do to this day. If folks want to collect things that glow--more power to them and I do not blame them. Akro ware that we have collected over the years always meant more to us when it lit up. Will I go after a marble that glows vs. one that does not—absolutely, I love that glow just like I loved Vaseline glass in the past (still do). A plain, or any marble that glows under uv light vs.one that does not is just worth more and is more collectable, they always have been. I just got these five in the mail because I know that my grandkids will eat them up--not literally I hope--lol. They actually hold light and glow in the dark--I may hold a few back for myself. Marble--On and glow on as well!!!

Well Brock--no response thus far--lets just call this one 1". I am not the best when it comes to WV swirls to be sure. I do not even know if Champion made a 1" marble, but I will call them like I see them. Lets bump this one up and get a response from a few others. It is worth a few more opinions for sure. Nice marble! Marble--On!!!

Thanks Ron, Marble—On!!

Well "equal" may have been a stretch I must admit. Here is a one on one--grey based pelt vs white based Akro, both under uv in both images. The pelt still holds up very well. This was a great question and it revealed some things to me in my research. The red on white pelt Rainbos seem to show more uv than any others. Akro clear based uv's really glow more than any other Akros. A great question and thanks for asking--I love to learn. Marble--On!!

All makers in the early years had cullet that they used that "lit-up" Akro may have the most, but many had some quite close to them. Check out the ID section--"more ID wanted" the first image shows a pelt that is quite bright under the "normal lighting" I have Pelts that light up equal to any Akro--I will try to post some later on. Unreal--I love this stuff--I hope that you got it for less-I sure would have made an offer at least. Chrome Clock Lamp --On!!!

Yes, these are the ones. Really great marbles in any collection for sure. Well filled, plenty of vanes, a few bubbles for effect, nice clear glass and a most excellant color as well. I love em. Thanks for posting them---really killer kats, simple but very intense. Posting under water--what a great way to entice--- If you want to let loose of one PM me. I have some killer corkscrews that I would let go of for one of these--and I do not let go of any Akro easily. Marble--On!!!

Is There Such a Thing as a Vitro Sweet Pea?

Thanks Gladys------It is an Akro and I will not back down on this one--What a great Marble---Really!! Marble--On!! -
Generally Parrots will show no white--It is close though and a nice one to be sure. If not for your great images I would have thought that it was a Pelt multicolor, yellow being a rare part of one. I think that Steph has nailed them from top to bottom. Sorry Fire, we both are posting pretty close to each other--do Chad and I have have a triplett?? lol Marble--On!!!

I refuse to think that this is vintage, it just does not look right to me. Just under 1"--I have not scrubbed it—just wiped it clean of finger prints. I have very few old hand-gathered pre MFC marbles and I do not know them very well. These are just my instincts and I may be wrong, I will admit. Oxblood, Light green and blue on a transparent base with some blow-outs. Hand gathered with a nice tail, seedy. Ground pontil (looks fresh) on one side folded seam on the other pole. Hard to shoot an image of for sure. Thanks for any input-----probably a great one to inform the masses of---- and stay clear of, unless of course you like these. This one came in a lot of older Akros along with others that were American made including nice handgathered MFC slags. Thanks for any input. Marble—On!!!

Is There Such a Thing as a Vitro Sweet Pea?
akroorka replied to Marbleized's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Hello Gladys, If that one is not Akro I will not give up--- but reconsider my ID skills👁️🗨️. Lets see some closer images---I love it. It is a great--very great patch-- Marble--On !!! -
Funny you should say that. I purposely got these from the mailperson today. I love Bengals. Vacors are for the most part very affordable, you do not have to freak out about opening a net bag--not yet anyhow-- and they made some really fine marbles as well. If you really want to hunt high-end Peltiers, you had better stock up with some Vacor marbles. Images are one thing--in hand is another. The 50mm marbles will be a collector marble of the future--if not right now---if you get a good one. I collect Vacor Atmosperes and get then when I can afford them-- (a future post is coming). There was a lot of 22 on e-bay that recently sold for over $60 bucks a piece. The same seller had a nice bunch earlier this year that were not ID'd---I still could kick myself for not shelling out a bit more on that bunch. Move on, or move over and forget--some are hard to forget. Marble--On!!! and Vacor on as well!!

#7 could be a Master Glass marble--Not a Master Made Marble --Lots of bubbles in the glass for sure. Pretty cool for what it is worth. Great images!! Marble--On!!

Follow the ribbon around on #7. If it continuous, then it is more than likely a foreign wire-pull marble. A nice one at that. I have not seen a marble like this before. Wire pulls are usually one or maybe two colors in my experience but you never know do you. #9 in a tough one for sure, it may be European as well—or made by any other company in the world—the rest I agree with Chad on. Taking images of clear based marbles on a white background always distorts the “clear-ness” of the glass, making an ID call on a rare one like this more difficult. I have a handful of Veiligglas marbles and half of them have blow out holes. Most of the research available will not show blow holes in the images because the best side must be shown. I do believe that blowouts are more common than we may know in this limited availability type. Canadian sellers seem to have more Veiligglas for sale than USA sellers. I could not tell you why for sure. I hope to see more opinions on these. Marble—On!!

I like Furnace mibs as well and have not ever been able to pay up for the asking price. There are none in my collection---but there will be someday. Things are getting mixed up with estates and marbles as of late on E-Bay, I purchased a sweet Vacor Atmophere (in a lot of commons) just lately because they are hard to ID. Do your research and be patient is always my motto. I would of course trade for one but I will always be on the losing end of trades as well---worth wise---- because I just don't care when it comes to getting what I want and giving up what I do not want. Unfortunalty, for the "no furnace marbles" in my collection, I will always go after Akro's. One always has their preferences in collecting. Marble--On!!

That is a great one---just loaded with AV--top notch for sure! Spruced up for me means a white t-shirt with some camo shorts. I was never too fancy--- Grunge --On!!!

Still a nice marble--how about a bluepea? Marble--On!! -
Try this on for size---look for any White on Black corkscrews, they are rare, there are plenty of Black on White. Yellow on top of any kind of white in a corkscrew is a hard find. I have no explaination as to why. Marble--On!!

Chad and Art--Twins forever from this point on.---twins do not always agree. We may not be identical. One from W---isconsin one from W---ashington. Both with a case of the Blues----
