The "Score!" thread. Post your exciting finds here...
B-rett66 replied to bumblebee's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Did some work for a friend today. He’s the one with the Peltier Comic marbles I posted for Tuesday. I don’t take payment for most anything I do for people. Just a sincere thank you warms my heart. He really needed the help too. He tried to pay me when the job was done and I wouldn’t take it so as I walked away he slipped this in my pocket. Believe me, he got a sincere thank you from me. Just a little over 49/64 .771 -
A guy here where I live has been collecting for 20 plus years. He and his late wife have ran a sporting goods store/antique store for the last 15 years or so and he brought out some of his marble collection for me to see. I can’t begin to tell you all the stuff he has. I’m sure there are some who have more but to me it’s kind of overwhelming. These are actually for sale by the way.

The daughter and I went looking for treasures again today. She scored but I stuck out. I even had on my lucky hat. Anyway the shop owner ask what we were looking for. I am usually reluctant to say because the price goes up when they know what you want, especailly if the item is not marked. I told her I had an interest in marbles and it was on. She said she loved marbles and that she use to collect a few but never really stayed with it because it was so difficult to identify all the different kinds. I agreed and told her there are books and on-line forums with very knowedgable people that show pics and names that have helped me tremendously. We talked and I showed her what little I know, which took about 5 minutes, about certian characteristics to look for like colors, seam lines, and certian patterns that help identify the marble and so on. She didn't know there were things like that to look for. It was like a light came on. I didn't think I was ever going to get away. She told me to come back in a few weeks because said she was going to dig out all of her stuff and try to see if she could ID some of them and possibly sell me a few. Who knows maybe I'll get to buy a cool marble next go around.

Use just enough warm liguid to rehydrate the coffee crystals. Crunchy coffee crystals will turn you inside out. Pour it in and mix it up. If you like ice coffe this will do the trick. Water, milk or even Hershey's chocolate syrup. Chocolate will give a mocha flavor.

Joe2, This thread was started in April of 23. I didn’t start visiting the The Marble Connection till October or November so I just seen it. Easter is fast approaching again. This is awesome. I usually don’t get into the religion conversations but this one is an eye opener. I’ve been scrolling through the archives tonight at work (midnight shift) looking for something to read and come across this post. I would like to add to your comment, “quote” “If, we’re wrong and we die what have we lost, Nothing.” Absolutely correct. That is something I say all the time. I also go on to say, “ but if we are right and there is a God and we don’t believe in his son Jesus Christ and we die then what have we lost? Heaven.” Most importantly what have we then gained? I let you decide that. You’ve heard the phrase, ….. “Awe, what’s the worst thing that can happen?” Well, the worst thing that can happen in anyone’s life is to die without Christ.

I love this thread I guess because I’m a big breakfast and family get together and eat kind of guy. I do a lot of breakfast at home for the family and we do a lot of breakfast get together for the guys at church when we have men’s meetings. River camp breakfast was always special when I was a kid. We always had a deer hunting camp in the fall and the fishing camp in the spring on the Wabash river in southern Indiana. One of my great uncles would get up every morning and cook breakfast for everybody and buddy he could lay it down. Guys would come from miles around just to eat breakfast, tell stories and watch the sun come up. They wouldn’t even deer hunt. The smell of fall leaves, a burning cigar, Off mosquito spray and fresh percolated coffee on a Coleman stove always brings back memories. The food was always good and the first guy who complained was the next cook. I miss those days but I still keep those guys alive by telling their stories and being the “Camp Cook”

I’ve had it several times. We have a local country preacher who is very good at preparing it. The secret is to place the turtle in fresh clean water for about a week so it gets the muddy river taste out, then pressure cook the meat for a bit to tenderize it then put the it in homemade vegetable soup.

I like it anyway it can be made. Hot, cold, loaded or black. Some days I’ll drink a gallon of it other days I just don’t care for it. I will say this I like instant coffee mixed up with a little water and mixed in with Dairy Queen ice cream.

Man the colors on Jabo are crazy. WOW

I’ve seen some pink base champion marbles that look similar. Colors are close. Or maybe even a weak Alley flicker. Just my guess.

I didn’t look at it too close. A piece of chicken was calling my name. I snapped this photo and went and failed my diet today. I’ll take another look at it and ask my mom who got it for her or where she got it. It’s amazing she can remember almost every single one of them and she has hundreds. I need to shine them all with the UV light.

Sunday Morning coming down on a Carnelian agate. Another one of the fantabulous marbles from Bumble Bee in the Christmas drawing “I want all the marbles”. Like I said, they are all a great bunch. I hope you enjoy this one too.

Found this beauty in a case with a bunch of browns and blues. Couldn’t pass it up. No pink but has some faint green. Hard to see in the pic. -

I hope that wasn’t off subject, but when Chad G. said he wanted to bid first it brought back memories. LOL

I worked with a guy a few years ago who bid on an American flag. It was so big it came with it's own tractor trailer(no truck). It was made to hang off the side of a sky scraper. This is no lie. He was really acting strange for some reason first part of the week. I ask and he said he was high bidder on an american flag. I told him not to worry, I'd help him put it up even if we had to plant a flag pole. "You don't understand", he said and then showed me the listing. My eyes bugged out when I seen the starting bid $75,000 dollars. I ask him why he did it and he said, "I just wanted to be the first one bid on it". So go ahead Ghad G, get ya some. My buddy was eventually out bid on Friday to his relief. We made fun of him for years. LOL
