Complete Set Of Blackies
MARBLEMISER replied to marblemansion's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Been there. I'm on the way back! marblemiser -
As a welder by trade.I used to get calls from Amish to do repair work on their equipment. After several trips to their sawmill. I was asked if I would mind them watching me work? I replied heck no glad to show what it was like. After they watched & took notes for a couple of days. Seems the watching & taking notes paid off. For them. Because they started doing their own welding. I never got called to the mill for repair work again. It looks like the same thing is going to happen in the contemporary marble market. Look for an influx of contemps from Japan. Talk about teaching your way out of a job. Just saying. If you know something that makes you money. And it's a skill that you mastered. KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! Can't wait to see the examples from across the pond. One thing we can count on is the price will be less than made in the U.S.A. Then again that's what competition is all about. IMHO Nice vid any way. marblemiser

No Peltier it's a Vacor de Mexico look alike. Thing is some of the Vacor's are REALLY close to the ones we know as vintage! marblemiser

Not for nothing, but I thought Golden Rebels had a gold yellow base glass? This on seems to have white in it. Also the bands seem to be orange not red. It does however have aventurine in the black bands. http://cgi.ebay.com/Marbles-NM-19-32-PELTIER-GOLDEN-REBEL-AVENTURINE-/380250251944?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Marbles&hash=item5888ae62a8 What time frame would they be from? I have a few of this type mib. So are they a Golden Rebels cousin? They fit the 19/32 size, in this auction. If so WHEW HOO! $$$ thanks marblemiser

How Do Sellers Like This???
MARBLEMISER replied to MARBLEMISER's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Ahem! I was refering to this auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/MINT-PELTIER-NLR-MILLER-SPIDERMAN-3-4-MARBLE-/320558801401?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Marbles&hash=item4aa2cb21f9 not your's. As you can see the starting bid is $600.00. Your concern for a low return on a High End mib. Is why I quit selling on ebay. I feel your pain! Thanks marblemiser -
Just wondering how starting prices like this affect the buyers market. It seems that auctions like this are the reason, most marbles I find in the wild. (few & far between) Are all worth their weight in gold? any thoughts? http://shop.ebay.com/peppercat4/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340 thanks marblemiser

Christmas Tree In July Anyone?
MARBLEMISER replied to marblemansion's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Exactly why I quit selling on the bay. ya takes your chances. sometimes you are the windshield & sometimes you are the bug. Better luck on the next ones. marblemiser -
may it be a cloud?

Trolling is a lazy mans way to fish> It requires little effort on the fisherman present the bait and wait. the bite from the fish (us) is what he's waiting for. When the fish (us)is hooked. the fight can begin. Alan I was thinking along the same line. marblemiser

thanks I LOVE MARBLES the ones shown in groups are 3/4 to 13/16 within a 32nd~ Four are transparent red base glass. I got 22 ate the same place. There were 8 more, But for whatever reason the people that hed them wouldn't sell them to me. They were purchased from an antique shop by me. The shop owner gto them at a yard sale in New Philly. There were 30 in all. And after looking and observing the likeness of them. It seems the maker tried to make them in pairs! then he would take them home at the end of the day. I REALLY wish I could have gotten the other 8. They were however ( the 8) purchased by another collector. I tried to purchase them from him. But he had already scattered them to the wind. (sold them separately) They are much nicer inhand. Thanks again marblemiser
