I think I have a couple moss agates. I know at least one of them glows under UV. I pulled these and grouped them thinking I may have them closer to being identified. Maybe some are just another makers patch? (The two smaller ones) What say ye? and Thank you!

Snakes so far, added 10 more this week. The teal or turquoise one in the second spot, top row, is kind of unusual I think.

One of my new additions to my expanding collection that I find intriguing. Now why would they call it that?

US Mail delivered these Jabo classics and Two 16 count boxed sets of approx 3/4 inch Joker marbles. Almost every one of my Jabos and D.A.S. Dave's Appalachian Swirls came from MarbleMary.com. Mary takes good care of me and I highly recommend checking her site out. Classics 5/8th Inches Joker Salute Run August 7 2011 Joker III Run Made 2010

Up late last night and up early this morning. Got a lot of grime off these and pulled the very ordinary ones. Also there were a dozen or so damaged marbles that I pulled. I sorted them to some degree. These are all very nice. Lots of Ravenswood and Alley swirls on white base. I got 9 or 10 Akro corks. There are also a couple handfuls of examples that look to be better collectibles of which I have to learn about. I will be taking images of these in singles and smaller lots as I move along. Many will be joining same types I already have in some cases. Next week I'll be striking the auction lots again outbidding others !!!! Yaaaaawwww! Some of my favorites I suppose.

Marbles games you play
The Nickel Guy replied to Big Billy red beard's topic in Marble Runs & Marble Games
Now that would be more my speed having had both knees replaced. I wouldn't have to get on the ground. I am sure that it would be very easy to make one of these in a woodshop even by the least talented woodworker. -
What say you? Not marbles of old? Sorry, this is the only image of them available at this time. Not mine. Thank you!

Chinese Glass History
The Nickel Guy replied to YasudaCollector's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I am pretty sure you helped me identify this one I have as Chinese. It sure looks a lot like your yellow and blue one. Thanks -
I won three outta 4 bags of dirty marbles tonight online. I went down to preview them in person and there seems to be a bunch more than these pictures portray. ( In hand it seems like twice as much ) I don't see any earth shaking marbles but I do think I see a lot of somewhat common Peltier Rainbos and West Virginia Swirls. I think I see some glittering Mexican more modern shooters and marbles in here, They don't do much for me. I may have paid too much, but I don't think so since I will get my $43.46 worth of plain fun sorting through these and pulling out the ones I like best. Maybe there's a goodie in there? Next week I'll be adding more lots to these three to pick up at the same time when I drive down to the auctioneer. I didn't win those yet but I will get some more. I will update this thread with my cleaned up, sorted marbles when I get them home and get a chance to do the pictures. It will be very soon. Thanks for looking!

Lamps, Houze, Llardo, Etc.
The Nickel Guy replied to The Nickel Guy's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Thanks for that extra work you did for us in moving them. Awesome! -
This has probably been mentioned in one way or another a hundred times here that everyone does not see exactly the same colors the same way. What one person sees, another may not. So what somebody likes may make another wonder what they see in it. Kinda fun in a way.

Lamps, Houze, Llardo, Etc.
The Nickel Guy replied to The Nickel Guy's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Thank you very much for that info. I apologize for posting in this thread. I appreciate your tolerant responses. If a mod moved it or deleted it I wouldn't mind but then again, even a correction is educational for others. Thanks again! -
Well I really wanted to keep the round ball on this smokers stand but I sent these three other than marbles items to auction on Wednesday. It's like a stick shift knob. It screws on but it was so tight I couldn't turn it so I decided to let it go. The one lamp and smokers stand matched. I am not sure if it was Oxblood but I do think they glowed under UV. Wrong shade but it worked. Had this in the living room for 25 years, time to go. I think Akro Agate made these since the colors are right but I am not 100% sure. This one has a mixture of Jadite and the same color balls as the other two with the oxblood (maybe) swirls on a greenish tinted custard color glass. I hauled about 1500 lots that will be selling over the next couple months. I was about knee to hip high in the back of a 20 ft U Haul.

Dave McCullough recently passed away and I spotted him on Youtube a couple times. I see some of you met or knew the guy. I did not but I'm sorry for your loss. I bought this 15 marble set a few months ago and some of these are super neat. They are all nice. The back of the box is autographed but that might be the norm for D.A.S. marbles like these that Dave produced. Just thought I'd take some pictures of them and post. Some gold flecks in these. Lots of aventurine and some gold flecks in these 6 marbles. Signed

I think I mentioned somewhere recently that I had a big marble someplace that looked like it was used for a baseball and I would look for it. Found three actually, I'd like to throw them in a rock tumbler for a month or two and see what they come out like. They of course, are total losses except for entries in the most ugly marbles contest. Makes my eyes get a little watery and I pout a bit.

I think they are my favorite marbles too LOL! Very nice and superb cataloguing.

The last of my handmade antique marbles here.
The Nickel Guy replied to The Nickel Guy's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I'll have to get back to you on that but I think the colored sections are floating over the white now that you make mention. -
The last of my handmade antique marbles here.
The Nickel Guy replied to The Nickel Guy's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
My last one is very small and is also a solid core. This will conclude my antique handmade collection that I have posted here and there on Marble Connection. This one was hard to photograph, have to settle on this for now. I do have a box of damaged marbles in the basement. A handful. I know one is a huge handmade that looks like it was used for a baseball in a sandlot for quite a few innings. I'll try to find that little box and see what is in it. I was thinking it might be restorable, slim chance. It's a shame. -
Around 3/4 inch and the other a tad smaller. I never cleaned them up, I ought to at least give them a little soapy bath.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post folks! The only one that has a nice continuous black "snake" line from one end to the other is the small one at a smidge over 1/2 inch. The middle size one is around 3/4 inch and the large is just a bit over 1 inch in diameter. The two larger have a seam which I think you can see in my picture. I do think the color is also in the marble. No aventurine here IMO. I took images of the other side for a reality check. I took a picture of this clear red patch on solid yellow 5/8 ish marble. It is an Akro I am pretty sure. Fairly common maybe, but I like it.
