Not very bold aventurine like the beautiful examples you all are sharing, but Akro AV. This was fun to discover.

With an opaque marble and this lens, there are severe shadows with the one flashlight. I will probably try a second mini Maglite first, one on each side. Maybe that will help.

Thank you! Not on a stand, I take my pictures on a black tshirt, that is what the marble is sitting on. I lay the light source, one of those very small led flashlights, on the same level as the marble. It works great for transparent based marbles, I'm still trying to figure out a lighting situation for opaque marbles.

That sunshine lit it up. Great tip, thank you Chad!

I know exactly what you mean about the couple hundred tries LOL!! I see the blue! So is blue harder to capture? I will definitely take that marble out in the sunlight tomorrow, and see if I can get some better AV pics. I'm excited to try it.

Thank you! And for the name

Thank you! It is literally the first time I've ever been able to capture AV.

This was a clip on lens for my cell phone. $40 on Amazon. It makes a world of difference in clarity. I just need to figure out a good lighting set up. Shadows are now an issue that I really haven't had to deal with before. I also need to find a good light source. Focus is hard to figure out. It has a very narrow or small focus field (a shallow depth of field), when it is lined up perfectly, the very center is in focus, and the further away from the center focus, the blurrier it gets, to where the outer edges of the marble are out of focus. Fun work

Thank you!

I got a macro lens today, I can't believe it's taken me this long to do this. Anybody else want to share some cool close-ups? I'd love to see them!

Beautiful!!! I am completely in love with that fifth marble and the last marble especially. And that Black, Blue, and Green cork on Orange is amazing. Okay, I love 'em all!

It looks to me like it has just the one seam, shown in the middle two photos. What do you guys think? MFC? I think I found similar looking 9's on Alan's site, but I am very new in trying to ID slags. 13/16"

Ah, got it, thank you so much. This one is not a peewee, it's just smaller than all the others I have. Thank you for the breakdown in size, much appreciated! 17/32"

Very cool, I had no idea that a clear/white Pelt Slag was this difficult to find; fun to step away from my Akros and learn a little about other marbles So I dragged my slags out this evening (its not that many) and have been looking around on line trying to find out if there are rarer sizes. Really the only thing I was able to find is that any CACs over 25/32" are considered rare. I believe I have a Christensen red slag, small in diameter, but I can't really find much on unusual sizes. It appears to have one seam, but I am far from a slag identifier. Hoping you might be able to answer that question, are there standard sizes for CAC slags? Are smaller diameters more difficult to find? -Jess

I see some definitely old (1920s at least), and some definitely new (1990s or more recent). You have quite a wide variety of decades there.

Wonderful! I love that Special, I don't see that thick Black ribbon with that color combination very often. Or ever now that I'm thinking about it, that's a 'special' Special in my book
