never heard of a snootie. Oh wait, she lives down the street. Peace,Galen

Very nice transparent swirls. I would have no trouble at all calling those CACs. Peace,Galen

Much cullet is a result of a stream piling up into a big glob. It can create some neat flaming patterns. Even a pile of melted marbles will make flames at times. Not saying flames cant form in cullet by different means. I am just saying it is real easy to see one continuous stream that has piled up in the transparent flames. So I am assuming that is how the opaques form also. I have seen some neat Jabo flames but they do not usually appear like Alley or CAC flames IMHO. I also have many opaque CAC and Alley flames that you can follow the stream around and around as it has piled up in that marble. The stream usually has flowed off to form the other loops and swirls on the marble. Many alley flames exibit almost the exact same loops and folds on different flamed marbles. I do think it was random but had much to do with the distance the stream fell and the size of the stream. I wasn't there so this is all just my opinion after many many hours of studying these lovely flames Peace,Galen

One fine stream piles up in 12 circles to make 12 flames. Then spills over to make the other patterns. I have some clear ones that show axactly how it happens. It is the pancake syrup type deal. Let a fine stream of syrup come out and it will start making circular patterns all by its self. The finer the stream the more likely the flames. And yes a 12 tip flame is 12 circles of glass as the one fine stream piles up. The stream actually flattens out as it piles up so the edge of the flattened stream is what one sees. Look at these. Many multi flames from the same box of Alleys. And there are also this color that show the fine little stream piling up. I also forgot to mention these marbles are about 7/16". That shows how fine the stream really was. That little blue one is under 3/8" Peace,Galen

When a fine glass stream piles up in a circular motion flames often result. I actually have small Alley marbles that the stream still shows as the marbles did not get rounded well on the machine. They are from a game. Here you go. Many many flames were in the mix. Peace,Galen

Could be 3 legit lined Chinas. Glazed (smallest) and unglazed. The very smallest one with wiggly lines being a crockery marble. Peace,Galen

It appears a certian South of the border company has been over looked. By far the largest machine mades. Other than MFC Peace,Galen

That is how they came. Peace,Galen

Akro and MFC were the only American marble manufactures to use true Oxblood Glass. All the others are stuff that looks like it. As time goes by most anything that looks like Oxblood glass is being called Oxblood. Peace,Galen
-
I do not see any Oxblood in the marble. Look at the edge of the red-brown glass where it bleeds and becomes transparent. Oxblood glass does not do that IMHO. Peace,Galen

Look like German marbles to me. I have recieved that type from Germany and England. Peace,Galen

It sure makes sense to me. Roger, Thanks for showing what I was saying. It could also just be the remnant on the punty from the last cane pulled off. Peace,Galen
-
Maybe the glob from the last onionskin made, became the base for the next gather of clear to layer the next color on to become the next cane of Onionskins. Just a thought!!! Peace,Galen

Looks Jabo to me. I do not believe Champion made marbles that large. Peace,Galen

Steph, I believe the tail is from pulling the glob out of the pot. Then just one marble is sheared before a regather if another tail is to be made. That is how size was pretty well kept the same. they knew how much glass to gather for each marble. Shearing more than one marble off a gather would make two seam marbles. I do not believe that was the case. Peace,Galen

In vintage marbles they are Two completely differnt types of marbles. Handgathered is a machine made marble. They lack the order found in the vintage handmades(which have pontils) The glass just got to the machine by a person gathering it on a punty out of a pot. It was then held over the machine (rounding rollers) and as the glass ran off the punty it was cut by shears. at first done by another person. Later it was a mechanical shears. Then later no person was involved at all when gob feeders came into use. Here is much great info. Glossary at AkronMarbles Peace,Galen First pic handgathered, second handmade.

I know, I know!!!! And I would give you at least 200 for it right now. Peace,Galen

I was simply trying to make the point that polishing those marbles would not be lowering the value a lot because if they are under an inch any could probably be had for under 10 dollars each at a show.. I am sure they have value to you or you wouldn't have made the post. Sorry if you took my post in some other way. Peace,Galen
-
Great minds don't always think alike.(LOL) I would polish any and all if I was keeping them for my personal viewing pleasure. Unless these marbles are larger than 1" their value is minimal IMHO. If larger than 1" I would probably leave most as is. Peace,Galen

According to the folks that actually made them 3/4plus to be a Parrot. Peace,Galen

Then I guess only company names should be used. Boy would I like that(LOL). peace,Galen

I have never seen any of the marble types in the Specials box in a bag of Just Rainbos. But searching for absolutes in the marble world is not something I would like to attempt. Probably why tweeners is the only name I like(LOL). And it means nothing in reality. And you are right, most would call them Just rainbos but are they? In reality most of the marbles sold by peltier were Rainbos. The older ones were just called National Line which was a name dropped at some time by Peltier. Best seen in the small boxes that are very similar when they dropped the National Line name. I would bet there are similar marbles in boxes marked National Line and those with out. I will let the name game players figure it all out. Peace,Galen
-
Steph, It appears you have things a bit mixed up. First off the first box are National Line marbles Not Rainbos. So yes there are transparent based National Line Marbles Realers are another type of Natinal Line marbles Not Rainbos Rainbos are Rainbos, A Later marble with no National or National Line involvement. There are National Line marbles that were marketed as Rainbos. They are most all the named types. Not the newer, Just Rainbos. The info from Block about Realers is wrong. Realers are the National Line marbles shown in Als box pic.. Bloodies are the only Peltier name for non National line marbles I can think of. And they are not rainbos they are bloodies. There may be some boxes marked sunsets but I do not recall And some older packaging was used with Just Rainbo rainbos which has added to the confusion. Hope this helps. Peace,Galen

I forgot to add------I like all of them very much. Peace,Galen
