  1. Nice item! I guess the object was to see how many revolutions you could get the marble to do before your arm got tired?
  2. Your right Mike. If someoldandsomenew2 has a contemp that is not signed they list it as vintage.
  3. I have seen those types in bags.If my fairly shot memory is still working I believe they were 50s early 60s and the bags were in French.
  4. I would suggest a hit with a hammer but some folks may not find that funny(LOL)
  5. I understand folks wanting contemps signed, I just do not like signatures on many of the marbles. It detracts from some of them IMO. Heck, I have no idea who made many of the marbles in my Contemporary collection. No plans to ever sell them and I only by them for their beauty so it does not really matter to me. Same thing as not needing names for my machine mades. It is their beauty that brings them to me. I would rather see reconditioned marbles marked in some manner that can not be removed. That would help a lot more folks not get ripped off.
  6. Pete sells all the new Chinese Handmades at LOM. It is hard to tell on many of the descriptions if they are the handmade types as it does not always say. Like the Figaro, Wurlitzer and Sonata etc etc .And none of them really look vintage to anyone with even minimal knowledge of vintage handmades.. As for many modern handmades, I do not necessarily need a signature on them.
  7. I am glad you found the humor in my post. Too many take this stuff too serious.
  8. Looking at Ebay the price of most of the special run marbles is now about 1/10th of what they were
  9. His crap doesn't even make me laugh any more. Makes me kind of sick to my stomach. he knows his statements are BS but keeps selling that dug up crap to newbies over and over again. He is a blight to the hobby and its too bad someone back there doesn't have a serious talk with him.
  10. I love that group of what I call Tigereye types of Sunbursts. They are the earliest and many of the most beautiful. And can even have much more clear than color when the ribbons get pushed completely to one side.
  11. I have no idea why so few bids. I will let you know if its polished .
  12. not a regular latticino. ribbon core latticino may be another name?
  13. Sometimes Ebay makes no sense. Look at the killer mint Green Brick someone got for less than the beater you sold? http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-MACHINE-MADE-MARBLE-M-F-CHRISTENSEN-BRICK-9-TAIL-MINT-BRICK-OXBLOOD-/141184578002?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&nma=true&si=4SAUBXMYQbh9TQPenYbqqXgqg1M%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  14. white marble with the Ox on a blue patch and a neat green V on the other side.
  15. They bought all of MFCs marbles and other stuff(including some equipment) at one time. Who is to say MFC was not doing tests and experiments and saved the neater material. Not a stretch to think it then got shipped with all the other stuff. Then it did not match what Akro was already using from MFC so they tossed it? A possibility, maybe but I wasn't there??
  16. Jealousy is a terrible trait. I flew to Ohio to visit with friends, make some new friends, swap stories, trade some marbles buy some and listen to all the wonderful comments everyone had to say about you.(LOL) And I do not have to prove anything to anyone. But I do like answering questions with a semi-educated show and tell. Too bad you could not have been there listening.
