  1. I shall be there God willing and the creeks don't rise
  2. with most it is ebay and the internet digging at sitesb and the reunification of Germany.. many marbles that were hard to find at shows, trading, flea markets, antique stores have been found to be much more common that previously believed. This has actually happened with many types of collectibles. Original MK spiderman were going for 250 as were Parrots at one time. Unless you were in certain areas of the country they were a tough find. (no longer HTF at all)
  3. Who in the U.S.A. decided they were qualified enough to professionally grade marbles with a number system?
  4. I will probably save one or two for you that you don't have.
  5. Just because they have dings and chips would not necessarily mean (at least to me) they were made to play with as marbles. The round shape would be attractive to children who would play with them like they were marbles but this does not mean they were made for play as marbles. Many Sulphides are dinged up but their expense when sold new would make me believe they were sold for use other than kids marble games.
  6. So Allies with purple are all typed together? Or is it purple and opal base or, or, (LOL)
  7. Steph, have you ever found any verified info on who Rosenthal got their marbles from
  8. Very interesting for sure. Unless the base glass is UV sensitive I would have thoughts someone is getting real good with faking old marbles.
  9. I have no idea what the blush line is and for the life of me can not see why those two marbles you posted would be grouped together as a type???
  10. Look close Paul. I think all the Snotties are one ribbon.
  11. Blocks prices are often way off the mark. As are most book values. I have many marbles that are pictured in Blocks books and on an average I would say I paid approx 50% for a pictured marble and a third or less for his values.. He does have a book out that had actual prices realized at auction that was for a time the most accurate price guide.available. Prices at shows and an averages sold price on ebay would be much more accurate. I saw a jar of approx. 25 nice translucent melon balls for sale for less than 15 dollars each. Show prices today are way off of book prices. Currently many marbles except HTF and Rarer types are at a near all time low in worth. Sometimes folks pay way to much for some marbles on ebay and people get all excited thinking that is a value for their marble only to be very sad when they sell theirs.
  12. Sorry to be blunt but going by the exchanges you had with Zaboo (yes I have seen some of them)you need a lot more experience before making statements about marbles someone is selling.. Buying and selling marbles or making clay balls does not necessarily give one much knowledge at all. it is easy to see you are interested in increasing your knowledge of marbles. you have 2 eyes 2 ears and only one mouth. I was always told it is that way for good reason. Maybe if you would examine your remarks to Dani it may be easier to see why she banned you. And yes you made bold statements about marbles that you were only guessing about there condition. Dani knows a polished marble as well as anyone and has handled many thousands more marbles than you will ever see. And the post asking what a ballot marble is shows that you have much knowledge to gain
  13. Melon Balls are usually in very standoutish pastel colors. Some of the translucent ballot marbles I have do appear pale blue. Like the edge of a milk glass dish or some moonies. I do not consider them Melon balls.
  14. The Chevron types are beautiful for sure! And rare.
  15. I think many would call it a type of banded transparent and some may even throw out the transparent Indian name but I do not like that name. A submarine should have more like submerged panels although a few strands under the surface would certainly get a few sellers on ebay calling it a Submarine. It is a beauty for sure, too bad about the condition.
  16. It is also the movement of the swirl and all the bubbles that look CAC.
  17. 20-30 years ago any smll handmade seemed to have a thought of value of at least 10 dollars. I bought 30 about 15 years ago for a buck each.
  18. Cane cut marbles will have 2 cutoffs. one is usually rough and one smoother where it was pushed into the cup of the marble shears if shears were used. Sometimes the marble cane was very hot and nearly molten when cut so it will almost be finished smooth on one side. Those appear to be ballot box marbles and have little value to most collectors. Maybe a dollar each. I have some with very very feint color stripes on them.?
  19. Tha last marble sure has CAC characteristics. Here are some dug on site and out of a box
