Never any grading company, official, licensed or unofficial. Very difficult job and for no money, no profit for it. Same as licensed marbles appraiser. I checked into that. To much school, records, documentation, insurance and legal battles. If your marbles are stolen or burn up, good luck. The high odds are your insurance will not pay you anything for the loss of the marbles. Because there is no way to get a official licensed appraisal for marbles. No one has a verified data base over years of sales from different sources for marbles.

Do I have any valuable or rare interesting marbles here?
wvrons replied to Paul88's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Marbles values depend on number one thing, condition, condition, condition. Conditions are BAD, give them away. -
any particular name for red and yellow cork with hirline red?
wvrons replied to Jeremysvt's topic in Marble I.D.'s
No red, just a single color of yellow. Thick yellow on the true edge where the temp. got higher and turned the yellow more brown or orange looking. -

CAC Snotty is clear base and snotty green swirl. Probably Champion. These dark purple base and white swirls are some of the most difficult marbles to identify accurately, even in hand. This is why they have very little value, plus the large numbers millions or billions that was produced by almost all WV swirl companies.

Correct 100% Jabo. Could be from the first original investor run, the very first Joker run.

Bubbles, seedy glass. Aventurine is not circles. Great pictures.

Alley and Champion factories were about 100 feet apart in Glass factory hallow in Pennsboro WV. Champion used the old Alley building for storage and packaging for maybe thirty years. So any digging in the area can be confused. People did dig green base and coral marbles near the Champion buildings and the Alley building. I have never seen a coral in any Champion package, old or later. Alley never put his name on any package. But coral marbles have been found in packages with Alley marbles. Two L. E. Alley grandsons both have good numbers of various coral marbles in their collections. Both grandsons say they themselves brought their coral marbles home right from the Alley St. Marys WV factory. I think CAC also made coral marbles but all that I am sure of being CAC had two easy seen cut lines. I think CAC coral numbers are very low. Peltier also may have made coral marbles. A very few maybe six have been dug at the Peltier site. But did Peltier actually produce them ?? Alley corals can be a wide range of transparent green base. Alley corals can be different shades of the coral color, from bright orange to almost pink. The Alley Exotic Corals are more colors than just green and coral. The Exotics, have bright transparent green base, very bright orange coral with a additional, yellow, red, purple, or all. Exotic corals will have the very bright transparent green base with at least two other or more other colors. Not bleeds or blends, etc. Some will be transparent green base with coral(orange), yellow, red, pink and purple swirls, all on one marble. With the odds probably ninety five percent or more of all the green base and coral colored machine made swirl marbles you will see are likely Alley. With some of those from the Pennsboro WV location and most will be from the St.Marys WV factory location. This is the most up to date information that I have on coral swirl marbles. Maybe someone can add more about CAC and Peltier coral marbles ? Alley corals . There is a large variety of Alley coral marbles.

Shimmering spruce im told! The blue shimmers for sure.
wvrons replied to Matt Mcmarble's topic in Marble I.D.'s
I downloaded the video and all I got was sound no picture. We need still pictures, more than one view. Several Alley marbles have aventurine. Some like the green and blue shimmering spruce were intentional. Others happen by accident, not planned chemical reactions. Usually the not planned ones are with green av and green in the marble. -
Akro for me. The helmet stripe is off to the side and it has a dark face, probably opaque. Many Akro helmets have no stripe in the center of the helmet. All the Vitro have a white helmet. Most(probably all)of the Vitro in the six pictures above are Tri Lites and not helmets. Looks like a cut line reference, not helmet's reference. Cut lines can vary from shear to shear and the shear can be moved from one machine to another. When the blade wears it is sharpened and the cut line changes. Cut line shapes helps with id.s but not always 100% sure thing. Very little 100% with machine made marbles. It is a combination of traits and the more different traits the more accurate the id.

The Exotic color combinations above are known as Exotic Conquerors and probably older than Tiger Eye marbles. Many Vitro marbles have Tiger Eye construction. The Vitro Easter Egg is tiger Eye construction. The Vitro Opals have Tiger Eye construction. It is a combination of colors and construction for the named Vitro's. I doubt that the above Exotic color combinations are on Chuck Brandstetters Tiger eye color chart. Karen Day also did a updated color chart for Vitro Tiger Eyes. Some that are not on Chuck's chart and could be classified as type five and type six Tiger Eyes.

All Boulders. Alley never made a patch or patch and ribbon type marble. Vitro-Akro-MK MK-MK-Vacor
-
I think color combination also plays a role for Exotic.

It is a tweener. I would probably put it with Conqueror. Many Conqueror's show the V pattern. You normally do not see the V pattern on Tiger Eyes.

Vitro made hundreds of patch or patch and ribbon marbles that have no name or special group. I don't have many pictures of no name ones as people want to see the named ones. Some no name can fit into a certain type and some will fit two different types. Many large Vitros have no name. More large Vitro have no name than those ones which do have a name.
