I agree it is off for the Heaton Firecracker. I agree with Alley. The colors and glass quality is just a little better than the Heatons close to this color combo. These pesky WV swirls can be close.

What size ?

The 19th Annual WVMCC marble show is May 5-6 & 7th Saturday, 2022. It is located at south Parkersburg WV, Mineral Wells WV at I-77. The last day to make reservations to receive the show discount room rate is Saturday April 23, 2022. After that the rate may be $25.00 or more higher per night. The show rate is $82.00 + tax per night. When making reservations call the Hotel Direct 1-304-489-9600. Call during normal business hours Monday thru Friday. Do Not , make reservations on line if you want to be included with the marble group. Mention that you are with the marble show group. You should get the group rate and be on the second floor with the marble people. The hotel has two elevators. The second floor has the most rooms. Sam Hogue will display in the show room, the original Peltier pee wee marble machine. He will run already made pee wee marbles across it, in order to see all the moving parts. No hot glass due to regulations. People making reservations daily. Good times ahead !

I agree reject rich . I get rejected someplace every week. Sometimes that is good. Plus I have more than most peoples share of reject marbles. I am going after some more Friday or Saturday. Back to the dirt. Suppose to be 85 here Saturday, maybe to hot ? Dirty marbles are some of the best teachers. They don't tell you to be quiet. But they sure can require lots of homework. They cannot speak or write answers. They can be tough as most crossword puzzles or mazes to complete the puzzle. Some are old, some are sad, some are bright like when young. Each one has a background, most times a dirty one. Some can be guarded by a dog, by a snake, a spider, poison ivy, ants, briars, broken glass, other diggers, police, the list is long. Many times all day it is just dirt, rocks or mud, no marbles. Maybe only pieces of marbles or cullet. Good days and not so good days or nights. But rejects are good teachers and I have lots of them.

It takes time and effort. I cannot say it enough. But it can be done, many here have done it. But for most people it will not happen in a year or two. Marble shows are one of the best places to learn all things about marbles old and new. Always a big variety and most all people there more than willing to answer questions. You cannot ask to many questions. Ask until you understand. Don't rely on one source. Find all you can and then make decisions. You will know when you find reliable resources. The best learning tool is to have the marble in hand and someone to give you the marbles correct history. Information for marbles is ten or twenty five times better now than fifteen or twenty years ago. It was really tough twenty years ago. SO much of what was available then was not accurate. But that was all they had, a best guess. Books is a starting place. But I have never ever found one 100% correct as of today. The internet is a very good place. But make sure the source is reliable or accurate. The best place is at a marble show, person to person. If you want it and try, you can learn a years worth from a book. in three days at a marble show. I told that to a man near Chicago, a month ago . He came to his first show ever at Decatur IL two weeks ago. He thanked me at the end of the show and said I was correct. He is hooked on marbles. Of course he went home with marbles and much more knowledge. If he remembers 25% of it he will be doing well. He did take pictures and notes. It is not easy or cheap to attend a show any place. But they have many different rewards just like the marbles do. Most people think the WV swirls can be some of, if not the most difficult to master. I watched Ric Anthony do it fast in a couple years. But he put forth the effort. I have helped a few others through the years. But to do a decent job marbles are needed in hand. In time the pieces will start to come together, if you give it the effort.

The green one I posted was confirmed by two long time Peltier people. Back in 2003 or 04 at a Columbus OH show. I had it for sale with six other slags. The late Guy Gregg picked it out fast and said I better keep it. That it was a hand gathered Peltier. Years went by and about 2008 I took it to the Decatur show. I had it with other slags for sale. The late Gino Biffinay picked it up and said this is a nice hand gathered Peltier. He did not buy it, but he didn't buy much at shows. I knew he liked it. The next year, for his help to me with Peltier marbles in past years, I gave the marble to him. He was surprised and said that I may not find another one. He was correct, but I do not hunt or collect slags. I am like Steph, I have big hesitation in declaring a certain maker for sure on many hand gathered slags.

what do you make of this copper sparkler but no pontils? .62
wvrons replied to Jeremysvt's topic in Marble I.D.'s
Goldstone or gold lutz is made from copper. It is not a Sparkler, sparklers are machine made. I agree that it is modern contemporary. -
Stephen Bahar did a recent You Tube video about Akron Marble & Toy Company. It has the Akron Marble & Toy Co. collection of Nola Morgan which has the marbles and many other unique items and good information.

It has been a while since I have seen any of these.
