Ric
I'm not real good at this but it does look like it to me. And seeing this one - http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARBLES-VINTAGE-3-4-AKRO-AGATE-UNUSUAL-WILD-CORKSCREW-HAND-DUG-/200749247185?pt=Marbles&hash=item2ebd966ad1 I'd be wary. westcoast_dave
Its either been torched or it's modern. Seller has some other questionable items as well.
marbleus1
Now I'm one that thinks more are suspected of being repaired than actually are. On first look I thought this one probably is. I took the photo into my picture program, lightened it and still thought so. Then I noticed the bubbles only appeared over a couple of particular bands of color. I dont know enough about the process to know what this means, so I dont know! Just posting and adding the lightened pic. to share what I saw. David does kinda look modern though. I can not I.D. this marble - course that aint surprising (lol) Looks more Vacor than Akro, maybe Italian.
Alan
Opinion: Its torched Moretti glass. Contemporary.

nutz4lutz
I think it's torch-made as is the "Indian Blanket" mentioned in another post. Then there's the red German marble listed as CA Striped Opaque. And the polymer clay marble listed as dug Akro.

jlmoriarty
You guys are good, because those are $hitty pics to begin with. And that always makes me suspicious even if I can't id the marble. And nice job, David.

psia-antique
This one looks like a remelt with very poor torch chemistry....referring to post #11.
richsantaclaus
In the first link, I see all the markings of an inexperienced torched lampworker that burned the glass with too much propane in the flame I am afraid.
Shamrock Marbles
The marble that Ric posted is Italian made and the surface is painted with either an oil base or acrylic paint. The color is applied in a similar fashion to making marbled paper for high-end books. http://www.flickr.co...N08/5893847360/ http://www.shoppiamo...morizzate~.html Sincerely, John McCormick "Shamrock Marbles"
