Oxblood?

Don't think so,cause of the red transp-but....it looks like oxblood.

It has black filaments which are opaque,the red is transp- and the white is translucent.

Could it be a black/red swirl or just oxblood,it;s 5/8.

Yes it's difficult,i've a question,can oxblood red be transparent,in certain cases?

I've read somewhere that ox- is always opaque,so?

It looks like just a very dark red, similar to the red that is used as black by some of the sheet stained glass companies.

If properly made it is Opaque Winnie. But occasionally it gets overheated or sits in the tank too long and can become slightly transparent. Some would not consider it Oxblood after this happens because it is actually a chemical change that occurs..

Two concerns I have with photos are

(a) when the oxblood goes under clear glass sometimes we see it as translucent -- optical illusion --

and

(b ) sometimes the oxblood is accompanied by other shades of red and we see that those other shades aren't oxblood so we rule out the whole thing.

Pseudo-oxblood can be terrific, as you've clearly shown.

Below is one of my favorite marbles of all time, an Akro

with another oxblood 'variation'. Please forgive the silly

photo. It was probably taken during 'happy hour'.

Also, hoping that Friday evening is a good time to go

'a little bit out there' and say that the angle in the

largest marble in your photo is giving me a really great

animal impression. Looks like a cobra/bird combo! ( :
