kbobam
Gotta like 'em! And all the other red and 'with red' marbles here, so thanks to everyone for their contributions! ( : In one sense I'm thinking that we really do 'gotta'. Having a vague recollection of an explanation about red marbles statistically being considered the most attractive by most people. Thinking it might have been in a manufacturer's description intended for commercial marble sellers, but I'm not sure. Maybe Steph remembers? Jess, I really liked your new marble with that beautiful Akro blue color. Also like your avatar photo. Any chance of a full size shot of that? If you want to wait until blue's the color of the month, that's okay!
Steph
There is a story about Berry Pink doing on the spot surveys with boys. Taking marbles out of his pocket and letting them choose and that's how he knew that red was most popular .... or something like that ...... disco005
Thanks Annapolis! I've waited a long time to find a good tealish-blue and black cork , I collect Akro. I'll try and get a better full size shot of my avatar marble this weekend Love all these pics! Thanks for posting everyone! -Jess
kbobam
Ha! Jess, you know your capital cities! I don't know anything about 'tealish' because I'm a traditional hairy sweaty guy. But that Akro blue has always been a favorite, and I think black 'sets it off' better than anything else.
kbobam
The Berry Pink story sounds good. Thanks. Did he follow up on this info and 'push' red marbles? Great marble, Darla! Please send it to me so I can examine it more thoroughly. I promise I won't forget to send it back!
Steph
"Bloodies" stayed in Peltier's line for decades. You could buy boxes with assorted color rainbos. Or boxes with only red. So, you could say Pink pushed them. (He was affiliated with Peltier.) But I don't think that was his idea, I mean I don't think it was original on his part. I should look up the exact story before I say that this is one of the examples where he took more credit than was due. But he did have a tendency to tell whoppers and other companies were aware of the popularity of red. MFC's brick line. Akro's Cardinals. Vitro's All-Reds (the 1930's version). kbobam
Seriously? Cerise? With your stellar reputation, there's no doubt that you're adding a good point to this conversation. But the 'animal' half of your audience won't understand it. I have no idea why we guys are incapable of expanding our ideas about colors. And although it's very important to me for the purpose of printing photos, to this day I still don't have the slightest idea how to pronounce 'cyan'. D'oh! kbobam
The overall feeling of the last post probably would have been clearer if I'd pointed out that I had to 'look up' the word 'cerise'. Didn't have a clue.
ann
"Cyan" was unknown to me until I started collecting Pelt slags . . . Then "cerise" came along . . .

kbobam
Orange sounds like a good choice. It'll be interesting to me, since I'm not all that crazy about the color, and have seen a lot of marbles I think would be better off without it. Road Dog's mib is real nice, though. The orange looks great paired with the yellow.
