Aventurine Green???

Recommended Posts

Does any one remember the show where

they were selling solid green aventurine mibs.

The seller was selling them as Peltier.

Some collectors said they were Champion.

Also they would only sell 2 per person.

help please.

Thanks

PS

they were before the JABO's

Sorry I can't answer the original question.

But it leads to the technical question "What Exactly Is Aventurine In Marbles?"

I have a nifty-looking two inch 'mineral sphere' that's basically solid green aventurine.

It's a type of quartz.

But I don't think that's what you're talking about here.

I can't answer your original question about a seller at a show.

But I have two solid AV ones that, (theoretically) are Champion, and two that (theoretically) are Master. Typical swirly pattern ones = Champion, typical "sunburst" pattern ones = Master.

That could be completely wrong, for all I know. Just what I've been told.

Never heard of any being called Peltier.

(And yep, the stone one is a different kettle of fish, as it were . . . )

Ok, I may have misremembered.

Thanks Ann

sometimes I have those CRS moments!

Though there are 2 green AV types that are solid green.

BESIDE"S the 2000 Jabos?

That's a point I was trying to get across to a seller.

MINE is not a Jabo!!

I will be getting it back soon anyway.

do you have any PICS of them you could post here?

hi gang,

this is the marble in question. dark clear body. swirls of somewhat chunky green aventurine with smaller swirls of blue aventurine. the marble is hard to photograph. this is showing it's two poles. 3/4".

Hate to say it but it does not look much like any of the different vintage solid aventurine types (3 types) that I have possessed. IT looks closest to the Master. They all had fine grain aventurine not the type that looks like this marble, which to my eyes appears like the new added aventurines???? Just from a picture it is tough??

those were my thoughts exactly galen. and yeah I have the other ones as well, but I have also not seen that type of aventurine in a vintage marble either. or the more powder blue aventurine in vintage. And never seen Pelt aventurine like it. none of ours( vintage with the fine aventurine) are 3/4" either. 11/16" about the largest. thanks for the input guys.

It does look like Alley "jolly green giant" or something like that from here.

More like that than anything else, I think, but mainly because of the white/whitish ribbons inside. But the ribbons don't look like these sparkly ones. The JGGs I have also have that very, very fine aventurine -- unlike this one, at least from what I can see.

I've never seen a small jolly green giant! I envy you . . .

I believe the 3/4" marble in question is from JABO March Madness in 2008.

so when in 1995 when I bought this marble.

It was really a 2008 jabo.

I was not the only person at that

show that purchased these marbles.

Guy's & gals

this marble has been in my collection 20 years.

maybe if zaboo could post a few more view's'

not so blown up views.

they could compare better??

Look at the pics that marboman posted.

his looks a lot like mine.

All it comes down to is

I know when & where I got it.

I know it isn't Jabo.

And Galen fly a kite/

that's my story & I'm sticking to it.

I won't stand for being called a LIAR.

It is what it is.

That's a definite puzzle, Ray. I'm feeling your frustration. But I don't know what it is myself. That's why I'm just watching.

What kind of kite!! You ask question I give my semi-educated opinion and ??? If it is old it is a new one for me.. And I have owned some of the better Alley Agates of the type mentioned and going by the picture they do not look similar?

In marboman's pics of a Champion, there's more apparent variation in color than in the ones I have. And the particles don't look as small as those in mine . . .

I'll see if I can't find a picture somewhere.

This one is far more like mine -- very "solid" looking as opposed to looking like AV flakes suspended in transparent. Can't see a surface pattern here though.
