sclsu
I think I have some miller swirls in my latest acquisition, but I need some pics to compare them to. Please post any pics you may have
Steph
This thread can go in two different directions. 1) We can discuss whether there really is any such thing as Miller swirls 2) People can post the marbles which have traditionally been described as Miller swirls I've already opened the door on the first option. Hopefully we'll at least get some of the second option too.
sclsu
Maybe I should just post the ones I have questions about and we can discuss?
Steph
That's a good way to go.
sclsu
Let's start with these two The color says rebel, but very swirly

migbar
That one is a mis-shaped, fractured, reject christmas tree.
Steph
I really don't know what it would take to be called a Miller swirl in general, but I'd guess that this is too clear of a seam to qualify? Am I on the right track with that thought?
migbar
I would say that is a NLR, and that the burnt rebels were more likely made on a Miller machine. I believe that the Burnt Rebels and Burnt Christmas Trees predate the more familiar NLR's with six ribbons in the flip-flop pattern.
lstmmrbls
long swirly twisty ribbons will usually garner the miller name. Often hard to distinguish seams on them. Not sure the Pelt Heads would consider any of those "Millers"

migbar
Are multi-color swirls considered "Millers" now ? A few of these might qualify...bad picture, though...
ann
Found this on Joe's -- it's what I think of when I think of the "Miller" type (like the second from the right on your top row, Mike, and the Christmas Tree underneath it) --
sclsu
What about these 3? They all seem to be different from the nlrs.

sclsu
The two on the right I can see as zebras, but the one on the left has to be something else. Here are a few more pics
