cheese
Wow, I've never seen one made of bone or ivory! My uncle used to do scrimshaw when he was alive up in Massachusetts.
Hack
I've got one that is similar , it's made of some sort of compound. I think they are knock offs .
BobBlock
It's a resin. These have been around for about 20 years. They are more predominant in England than here. There's at least 5 different designs. I'm sure there's a thread on here that discussed these before, perhaps one of the more intrepid marbleconnection-nauts can scare it up
sclsu
I figured it has to be some sort of newer item (I have read up on scrimshaw before) as most pieces are repros. Still a very cool addition to my solitaire boards. Had a few green fancy benningtons with it, too, which I don't have too many of
orbboy
Yep looks like a resin one from here. I see dozens of them here. True test is to heat a pin head to red and then poke into one of the holes. If resin it will smell like burnt plastic, if ivory it will smell like burnt hair or fingernails. They also do these in some sort of stone like slate or something?
cheese
That answers the question in my mind: "where the heck do you find a big enough piece of bone or ivory to make this?"
Steph
I had a resin one. Sold it. Another regret. But I got at least $100 for it. Can't remember how much.

lstmmrbls
They were actually many pieces glued and pinned together, The reproductions simulate it with pie shaped lines.
aleecee
We have one too...design is different. Will post a pix tomorrow....picked it up for a song; thought it was some kind of wood resin or plastic as well. Attractive for sure!
