kbobam
Here is an article/list of more McDonald's products than anyone could possibly imagine. And yet, somehow, they did! I came to this page because for no apparent reason the name "McDLT" popped into my head, and I felt compelled to look it up. Oh yeah! Now I remember. That was a decent burger. Too bad about the styro. The more I read, the more fascinated I became with all the different crap they've done. Your mileage may vary considerably, so please don't cuss-out or otherwise harm the messenger! Steph
I have very simple McDonald's tastes. I used to get their fajita. I guess it's not available anymore. Except in Canada. Another reason to move to Canada. But when not getting the fajita, I like the basic hamburger. With the pasty ketchup, the reconstituted onions and the shriveled little dill slice. Maybe a small order of fries. Oh, okay, two more things. Fruit turnover. And the yogurt parfait. Used to share the parfait with Brother. But any other sandwich reduces the McDonald's experience. disco005
I haven't had McDonalds in forever, but I used to get the two cheeseburger meal, HAD to have Sweet and Sour sauce for the fries. everytime. Anyone else remember the Big Mac jinge? : Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onion on a sesame seed bun. That used to get stuck in my head for days
kbobam
For me, ordering fries required precision timing. If you got them immediately after they left the fryer they were great. Otherwise they just weren't worth it. They simply didn't 'age' well. So I'd sometimes come up with various silly reasons to let the person behind me in line go in front of me, hoping he'd order the last of the french fries that had been sitting there for a while. Pie! I was amused recently by a movie character's hypothetical question "When exactly did the world turn to hell?" Neither he nor I were expecting an answer, but his friend immediately and rather precisely responded "The day McDonalds started baking its pies instead of deep frying them." (For those interested, that day was sometime in 1992.) Coincidentally, McDonalds brought back the deep-fried pie in Southern California for the latter 3/4 of 2015. So maybe Sclsu got to experience one of those a little more recently than the rest of us. ( :
Steph
I remember the backwards version of the Big Mac jingle. (And I don't mind stale fries ... they go along with the shriveled pickle and rehydrated onions.)
sclsu
The McDonald's by me still deep fries the pies (yes I have had them recently lol)
kbobam
Ha! That's great that you still have them! I'm not personally that familiar with the pies, but I appreciated the movie-line I mentioned because it was such a great example of someone being willing to come right out and complain about typical modern day 'politically correct' bull hockey. There's so much of it! Jess, I'm with you! My favorite place to get fries was a Chinese establishment which is unfortunately no more, but they had a sauce they mistakenly called 'honey barbecue' which I always got. It was actually more like sweet and sour. Yum. Steph, I think I know what you mean. I frequently like the basic burger too. It's kind of like a ballpark frank. You look at it one way and it's just godawful. Look another way and it's delicious. ( :
I'llhavethat1
I used to to to McD's somewhat regularly. Then there was the health kick and 'super-size me' movie so stopped going for maybe 8 years. Picked it up again recently. The sausage and egg McMuffin in the morning, yum. 1/4 pounder with cheese or else big mac for anything else. Never really got into their trendy specials
lstmmrbls
about 12 years ago I went in for my breakfast western egg sandwich (89 Cents) (egg with diced ham onions and bell peppers)and it was no longer available. Have not been back to a MickyDs since.
kbobam
You've got me wondering how many places I've effectively 'boycotted' over the years! I'm sure there've been quite a few, but I'm mostly drawing a blank. I did boycott Denny's many years ago, when my Eggs Benedict was served with 'cheese sauce'. I like cheese sauce. But that was just wrong. And I don't remember specifics, but I know I've seen the same situation you described many times. Why do restaurants always 'drop' the best things they have, and keep serving the crud? On a deeper level, I wonder if this is a: their fault or b: ours. Ding! It's c: the government's! Can't explain why, but we all know it's true! Somehow!

kbobam
Excellent point! Although there's a plausible new theory floating around which shows some pretty good evidence that C and D may be the same thing!
