bumblebee
What size? Where did you find it?
Mattshaw1953
Sorry, 7/8", I spotted it in a group on eBay UK, no other interesting marbles to the group, the photo of the group wasn't close enough to show the Ox swirl. I watched them for a week with no bidders, at the last second there was a second bidder, but managed to win for a very modest sum. It is in super mint condition, the Oxblood patch on the left of the image has an unusual extra swirl independent to the swirl at the upper pole! orbboy
Looked much smaller in the auction. Couldn't let it pass for 4.
Mattshaw1953
I agree Dave, I was surprised by its size and condition, I Wouldn't have thought you'd have "let it pass" for 24 quid, ah well stranger things have happened 😊
bumblebee
Can we see a shot of the pontil? I am asking more to learn since I am not an expert on these. The auction photo really does fool the eye on size!
I'llhavethat1
Rest of marbles pictured look fairly newer (by 100 years or so, lol). Looking forward to more pics

Didn't say the one in question was modern, but surely you agree it's an exception to the rest of the group (which was my point). Believe me, I've come across diamonds in the rough, and if that's the case great! and congrats!
Mattshaw1953
Ha ha, it is the exception, I'll post some more pics when I get home from work, I'll try to capture the faceted Pontil, until then......
Mattshaw1953
Hi all, this is the single faceted pontil, at the opposing pole to the swirling Oxblood, the best shot I could get in the poor UK light. As you can see there is a sort of swirling core which terminates at the nicely faceted pontil.I hope this helps.

popeyecollector
Hmmmmmm ... 7/8" is very close to 15/16" and a mint surface on a vintage marble with oxblood. Doesn't any one even think ---- Bulgarian?

bumblebee
Did the Bulgies facet their pontils? The ones I see have a very large rough pontil.
