Chad G.
When I started collecting, before Ebay, it was all about German handmades, like a mad rush, everyone had to get some. The marble market has always in flux and will remain so. One minute worth $5.00 the next day it's worth $500.00, all perspective. Regardless I have always collected what I like. Don't get me wrong I still love German Handmades, as the first marble I ever purchased was a Running Rabbit Sulphide. My first has to be Peltier, well !! tied for first with Alley. My tastes have changed a little over te years but not my love of collecting them & meeting new people. I think I like marble people more than marbles themselves, certainly a different bunch, opinionated "Yes" but I believe that's what makes the world go round. What a boring place it would be if we were all the same !! Guess since this a marble forum I should probably post a couple of my favorites. 9/16ths Peltier Wasp 5/8ths Handmade Running Rabbit, this was my firs German & my first Handmade Not the same marble but the exact same figure inside Another running rabbit w/ a little different figure inside A couple Alleys, one of my first and still a favorite the "Shimmering spruce" This one has Carnival colors "but?" one of my favorite "Alley swirls"
Berryb
I guess Akro is my favorite, because they made corkscrews. After that I can't pick a second favorite 'cause I like em all. Mostly I guess I'm partial to anything pre WW2. CAC had the best colors, MFC made bricks, Pelt made NLRs, I love slags, whoever made them, hard to beat an old Alley swirl. So I'm on the horns of a dilemma here. I can't decide. Thanks Bruce
akroorka
Akro then Master Marble. Just because I like to collect boxes. Both companies made some nice boxes that are not so high dollar. If I just went with marbles and I was not so box crazy I would go Akro, Peltier, just too hard to beat the colors with these two. I am showing a recent backfill of an Akro 230 box that I purchased empty, the dividers are my thing--it just keeps them in line better. The pouch is probably a Master Glass bag that they filled these boxes with after they purchased Akro. As always--more research needed. I love this stuff. The Master Marble #6 box is a recent purchase that needs a little work. Marble--On!!

Mojo
1st and 2nd ..... Peltier and Slag Marbles are in the race for 1st place but then again....the German handmades can beat them to it... And the rest is very very close at 2nd place Tough choice 🤹♂️😅👍

Akro75
Oh man. This is tough. Back in the day as a kid,, I use to love going through jars of marbles at flea markets and antique shows and finding an elusive German in a sea of machine mades. Still gets me excited..and I have always loved original packaging and use to drool over the pictures in Everitt Grists Big Book of Marbles. So probably in this order, anything Akro, Christensen and followed by the Germans, including "aggies" . I love them all, kinda like the seasons. A couple pics of my favorite Christensens, Akro boxes, and handmades
I'llhavethat1
#1 is German, but that's kinda grouping a lot of "manufacturers" into one. Good topic. It would be interesting to have a poll attached to this thread. Since for me, I had to consider a few machine made companies for the top two, and there were definitely some non-contenders (personal preference, still have great examples)
