Chris Parson
I think I knew this before but now… I can’t figure it out. Veiligglass wirepull has become my target when I look for marbles at second hand stores. I recognize one when I see it. But some time ago I gut some German wirepulls from @Mojo and when I looked at them yesterday I was baffled because I couldn’t really tell them apart from some of my recent Veiligglass wirepulls. Am I losing it or have I mistaken it all in some way…? Here are the Germans…
Ric
It's a tough question, Chris. To me, the striping in the marbles you show seems less smooth and flowing than the striping on most Veiligglas marbles I'm familiar with. This conversation would be much simpler if we had big handfuls of verified examples of each type to compare. I really don't even know what the full range of variations in Veiligglas marbles is. Ric
I will add that the base glass on the marbles you posted here looks to be of much lower quality than the Veiligglas marbles I am familiar with.

Fire1981
WOW ! This is huge. I have a bunch of WirePulls and could never really sort them because of their traits. Nice Power Post MoJo. I was waiting to see your line up.🙏
wvrons
I don't know that anyone has any proof that any of the wirepulls types above were produced in Germany. I have no doubts that Veiligglas company marbles were packaged and sold in Germany. We were searching for proof from actually made in Germany when Winnie finally found the evidence of the Veiligglas factory and its history. Maybe someone has proof of any machine made marble factory in Germany. There most likely was but we just have not found any proof yet that I am aware of. Years past most were just labeled as European swirls or German wirepulls. I know WWII destroyed much of any evidence there may have been.
Fire1981
I have some sorting to do. Gotta luv the purple 🚀
Fire1981
I think slags and wire pulls are very similar. But they kinda run parallel to WVS. I think I have a few different examples that I think are from different factories. It’s too bad that the factories were lost in the war.
Da Roberto
I asked a collector of marbles who lives on the border of Germany and yes, as Ron also says, no document has ever been found that they were also produced in Germany, one can only suppose. The guy I spoke to thought they were also produced in Germany, the most beautiful, densest ones, because he often found them in Germany along with German slag and even German artifacts. Perhaps, it seems, they were produced even before the Second World War

Chris Parson
So… We can’t always be sure if a wirepull is Dutch (Veiligglass) made or German made or if there ever was such a thing as a German made wirepull marble?
Da Roberto
It can be assumed. In a thread about veiligglas, a guy claimed that machinery had been found to produce vire pull in Germany, but there is (so far) no documentation. Maybe yes, maybe not? Da Roberto
100% safe they were produced in Amsterdam, on this it does not rain, as there was the veiligglas glassworks, and in its disposal, many pull vire were collected
Da Roberto
Anyway, when I find a vire pull I will say veiligglas with reserve of 5/10 % of German
