Fire1981
I could say Navarro right away. What else could it be ? Who else made slags with one pontil?

akroorka
Great color--great marble---I cannot call it though. The early ones elude me as far as ID goes. Once again, great images Fire, keep them coming! Marble--On!!
Ric
It might be Navarre, but I think it could be an earlier German.
I'llhavethat1
When I think of single pontil slags, I think of the early Germans. But you're right, from your pics with that style of pattern and pontil, Navarre is likely
Chad G.
x2, I see Navarre as well.
Fire1981
Thanks for the spell check. If it’s German is it attached to a specific factory? Or is that where tracing slags from Germany kind of ends ?
Fire1981
Does anyone have examples of Grenier slags ? They are the only factory I know of that made a single pontil slag in Germany. What traits would one look for when trying to sort these types of slags ?
Ric
Grenier's have ground faceted pontils, while Navarre's are melted. At least that is my understanding.
Da Roberto
This loose pontil with ring pattern is Navarra, made with the leightons method They are usually purple-based, but other colors have also been used, such as transparent green, amber etc. Usually, European slag has a linear pontil and German ones, can have a polished pontil, like this one underneath.
