This could be a great new thread if anyone is willing.
My wife was bamboozeled years ago by a polisher at a show who misrepresented what he sold, I passed him up but my wife purchased some presents for me while I was looking elsewhere.Β
I will never forget my response to her present---oops---reallyβ€”oops:wub:!!!Β
The good advice is if you do not know marbles---stay away and buy a nice tool for the old man or ladyβ€”lol:wave2:.
I have no use for polished machine made marbles but I know that many do. I used to throw them out but I still have a few---in a boxβ€”just waiting to inform the masses.
Each to their own.
Marbleβ€”On!!

Yep!!!Β
I hate them with a passion--just me and what I think in my collecting mind.Β
Collect what you like, toss what you hate---it could be related to the bad experience with my wife--kind of like an in-grown toe nail, once you have them you avoid them at all costs.Β
I have since researched polished machine made marbles with a passion, I just hate them and am always on the lookout for themβ€”I just hate them!!---Really!
I judge no one--give me a break here😁.
Peace, collect what you like and of course---always---
Marble--On!!Β

I understand I am a baseball card guy and have no use for any card that has been trimmed.Β

A common practice used on the old Topps borders as the machines didn't cut the sheets "perfectly" back in the day.Β

Also used to "sharpen" corners artificially. I can understand the practice you speak of more. I mostly hate when trimming is used to deceive. Same with marbles some polish to deceive.Β

I guess the way I meant too say that was how the machines in production cut the individual cards from the sheets, resulting in some being "off center". But you know what I meant 😊.

I just felt better about being a little more clear about when and where the miscuts originally took place. I have my share of off center Topps baseball and football cards and love em.Β

I kinda remember when these doctored cards started appearing. Trained eyes could spot them after a close examination. Actually, unless I personally knew the source, I don't think I would buy a card pre-1990 unless it was officially checked out and graded by an established grading service.

I totally agree. I have many diamond cuts.Β

Opinions vary. That is very true. And opinions, as always, are welcome in public forums.

But, "humble opinions" should be respectful opinions. Too, in a round about way, insinuate that an individual is "foolish", or a "fool"; isn't cool, "IMHO"......
