sissydear replied to Akro gatherer's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
There is no standard Tribute run. The first Tribute run was small. The second run was huge. This one may be as large. We'll know box numbers tomorrow. Edna -
bob, thanks for posting the marbles. Your pics are always better than mine and you saved me some work tonight. I'll post more pics of the people late tonight. The run ended after 2:00 pm this afternoon. If I have time after dinner I'll post some more. More of our team showed up today and I do want to include them in this post. Edna

Still Don't Think It's Akro
sissydear replied to feelnmarbleous 's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
After what I saw yesterday from the collection of the ICE brothers, dug from 40 feet underground at the Akro factory site - they do look akro. I saw marbles I would have sworn were vitro, marble king, and I don't knows. They were all akro. Some had gorgeous "V's" on one side. Some were swirls and some were patches. Edna -
Alan, it has been going on since 6:00 am and it isn't over yet. I really can't tell how big it is. We have made 3/4 inch and 5/8 inch and a few peewees. I came back to the motel to post pics and have to go back. The marbles have not cooled yet. Sorry there aren't any pics. Looks like we won't be dividing the marbles until Sunday. We did have one uninvited guest and two people asked him to leave. Edna

The JABO Tributes began their third run today. It is a tribute to Friendship. The lid of our box has a pic of best friends David McCullough, Dale Simmons, and Richard McKnight sharing a joke. The inside of the lid has our list of investors. Three stars shows the investor has been involved in 3 runs, two stars means 2 runs and no star means this is the investors first run. Our friendship statement is an insert which will cover the marbles in the box. The bottom of the box lists our crew. One crew member was called in after the boxes were complete and his name is Russ Meaux.

The only thing we like at McD's is the breakfast and we like the breakfast better at WhataBurger. Edna -
You do beautiful work. I will watch this one because I know it will go far beyond my pocketbook. Good luck! Edna

We got great news today. Weldon's blood count went from 9.2 to 10.8 in one week. It's supposed to take a month to gain 1 point. I think he's going to be fine. Thank you for all the support. Edna

Weldon was released from the hospital today about 5:00pm. the blood specialist couldl find nothing wrong with his blood at this time. The gastroenterologist prevailed and he is home with prescriptions for iron and protonix (I think that's the name) and he has to have his blood count taken again next Monday and see the blood doctor next Thursday. The gastroenterologist will see him again in 6 weeks. We are very hopeful this will take care of the problem. Thanks again for all the support. Edna

I am home for the night and if Weldon's blood count stays up tomorrow, he may get to come home. Bo has things a little confused. His blood count was 4.2. He had less then 1/3 of the blood he should have. After 6 units of blood his blood count was 9.2 They also gave him iron intravenously and potassium tablets. After the colonoscopy and endoscopy of the upper GI, they found a hiatal hernia. The gastroenterologists thinks that the hiatal hernia was pinching the stomach and small amounts of blood were lost over a long period of time. It was lost so slowly that his body adjusted and he really didn't know how bad he felt. Iron was lost slowly over that long period of time. Without iron, he could not make red blood cells. His white cell count was also low. If that is indeed what was going on, the iron tablets daily and prilosec or protonix daily is supposed to fix him. They will check his blood in the morning and if it has not dropped lower he may get to come home. He's had endoscopy and cat scan. The only abnormality they found was the hernia. The doc said he's probably had it his entire life. If the blood has dropped tomorrow they will keep him and the blood specialist will take him over. That's all I know. Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. Weldon read them all last evening and he says thank you too. Edna

Southern Indiana Marble Show
sissydear replied to FISHSLAYERMARRBLEGRIFF's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Pot the info? Did you want them to flush it, Griff? Just kidding. We all make typos. Edna -
Ive been reading everybody's comments about this marble and realized I wasn't commenting on what everybody else was. I clicked on mib$ clown link and was talking about it. Totally different thing. No wonder I didn't understand the Leighton remarks. Edna

Wow! Weldon collects Native American fetishes. About 4 years ago we went north of Phoenix after the marble show, way up in the mountains and found a great shop. I bought fetishes for him and could not resist this. It sits on the shelf with his carved fetishes. One of the neat things is that these animals come in a hand made paper box. With a fimo clay piece on the box. It's a wonderful horned toad. Here is a dorsal view. And a ventral view. (Just could not resist using my biologist training) LOL They are beautiful from any direction. Edna

Beautiful marble. Somebody wanted it awful bad. The left handed twist is probably what did it. We don't collect antiques so I'm not up on going prices, but it seems pricey to me. i've seen larger ones (but not left handed twists) go that high. Edna
