the top of the cabinet has glass so I can look in.
-
Some of my vintage machine mades are in this cabinet. Each drawer has 2 trays for marbles.
-
Me too, Griff.

Yes, the light blue base is the hardest to find. I'm still looking for one of those.
-
Marble on the left is my Berry Pink on an opaque white base.
-
three Berry Pink marbles in all three base colors. First one is opague white, second is pale blue base, 3rd is clear base. These belong to Lynn Johnson. I've used them in a Texas Marble Collector's newsletter.

Berry Pink in a clear based marble

I haven't unpacked the beads yet. I am working on the marbles and the Akro general line and children's dishes. I have now opened the box and shown them to a relative. I'll get some pics and post them soon. I know very little about them.

I have recently been given an extensive collection of trade beads. I have Venetian glass, Czech glass, and African glass beads. None of them are the German hand made looking marble beads.

Rich, I can't mail your newsletters because you haven't updated your address, Please PM me your new address.

I have always gotten great marbles from Zaboo, exactly as described. Never returned anything. For more than 10 years too.

Al, your last pic from that one view would fool me into thinking it might be a Vitro Agate "wedding cake". The green color isn't quite right, but maybe. The middle photo might make me think it's Champion. I would definitely know from the clear areas that Dave M. made it, so that means Champion or JABO. I am very familiar with the Alley Agate green, oxblood, on white base. It has no clear areas. A lot of oxblood has been used since 2008 so folks interested in marbles should be aware that oxblood does not mean old. Pic # 1 is not collectable to me if it's vintage or new. -

Choose your friends well. Those things you mention did happen. Investors learn and move away from it. You can find crooks in all walks of life. Sorry to say, there are some in marbles too. Don't let the crooks spoil it for you. -

I do collect Alley's and Champion Agate. I like them for the history especially. High dollar spenders would not be fooled by these "cheap" champions. I can't find any of these that Al's JABO's martch up with These are Champion Agate new old fashions. Christmas trees and catsup and mustard. These will not match up with Peltier either. -

Here are some Alley flames. Show me one of those Al posted that mimics these. I don't see it. ' More Alley's. Al's JABO's don't look like these. The glass in the one's Al posted does not look old to me. -

Please post some side by side as I did. I don't think you will find a JABO or a Sammy that matches up with a vintage. On the other hand, some Alley's might fool a person. I don't think the Champions would fool anyone. And who would care? You big time collectors don't go for Alley's or Champions especially. They're cheap. -

Galen posted one of these Sammy's saying it mimicked "Golden Rebels" I already posted theis once to show there is no black aventurine, only green. No red here, just orange, and the yellow color is off too. No intent to mimic here either. -

We named these "Lawrence Alley Flames" to honor Mr. Alley's influence on the work of David McCullough. I don't know of any vintage that these replicate either. -

Here are some flames from the Tribute Legacy group. They don't look like Alley, Champion (high dollar collectors wouldn't care if they did) and they certainly don't look like CAC to me. -

People have been asked many times to post pics of the marbles that are look alikes deliberately done to misrepresent. No one has. The reason: there aren't any. -

I remember being new in 1992. Weldon and I bought bags of Vacor. They were copying Peltiers at the time. I still have those bags. They have supermen, spidermen, golden rebels, etc. We studied those bags so we wouldn't get "burned". That was our job. you don't learn it all at once. At least I didn't. I learned in small increments and I'm still learning. Time spent learning is far more valuable than time spent moaning. We did the same with Fred Wilganoski marbles. We learned the differences by looking at them and I still have those marbles in my collection. They're beautiful. Marbles make me happy. -

Wow! These responses look like the chatboard of the old days. Sami, I didn't know there was any other way to group the marbles. You are spot on! I collect groups 2,3, and 4. Anything I find in group 1 goes straight to my son. I haven't sold any marbles in the last 3 years, but I may start up again this fall. Then again, I may not. I enjoy giving away the JABO's and Sammy's that I helped to make. I don't think the vintage machine mades hold their value Sami. I can remember paying $300 for a Peltier superman in the 1990's. I don't see them selling for that now. it's OK though, I'm not selling mine. My grandson will enjoy them when i'm gone. I think I enjoy the people as much as I enjoy the marbles. I love seeing and spending time with old friends and making new ones at marble shows. I love getting kids involved in the hobby. Jeeperman, once a marble gets into my keeper boxes, it never leaves. I'm with you on that. I never got into this hobby to make money. I just love the marbles and the people. I don't care if value goes up or down. I never intended to buy and sell for a profit. I love your post Mike. Big John, that's what it's all about for me - fun! We don't have to get nasty to get participation. There is a new FB marble place that doesn't allow the nasty things to be said. You get thrown off if you do post it. It's thriving. It reminds me of the old days. All kinds of marbles are allowed there. We are learning from each other and teaching others the parts of the marble world we know a little about. Bob, your post is priceless! I cannot understand how anybody could enjoy the moaning, groaning, bitching, whatever you want to call it -- over and over and over again. I'm too old to waste time doing that. I plan to enjoy marbles to the fullest for the rest of my life. Griff, dear friend, I love your post too. Marbles make me happy and I intend to stay that way.
