Nice marbles. The Alley is a fairly common one from St. Mary's. And the Pelt is 109/128" while the Alley is 125/128" 🤣

I've never seen anything like it so I am skeptical. There is no line around the inner sides of the box to suggest the marbles have been rolling around in there for decades. Why the holes in the box? And how would the seller know the marbles are Akro?

They are all Vitro Trilites. The lower left and upper right are Superiors. Superiors have a yellow patch surrounded by red.

I have a 7/8" that I think is similar It has the nice bright white striping glass too but the base glows pretty good under UV. I was leaning Alley on mine but I am not too sure about it.

I think it's an Alley, but that's all I've got. It's tough to photograph and it's even more attractive in hand.

Actually, he was at Paden City for about a year before Sistersville but little is known about the marbles he made there. The thinking is that he was sort of setting up his own equipment and "practicing" with tanks and such, and that he didn't make even as many marbles there as he made a Sistersville.

I agree with Ravenswood. They made lots of 9/16" marbles but peewees are not common at all.

Yup, they called them "fried marbles" and they were a pretty big craft craze back in the 60s-70s.

Thanks, Tommy, it's a pretty old post but there's lots of great stuff in Steph's Study Hall and the Archives. I tried to show marbles that I thought were more distinctly "Sistersville Alleys". Marbles from this location are far less common than those from Pennsboro or St. Mary's since Alley only operated in Sistersville for about a year.

Yes, they are large and, better yet, they are "fat" - big chunky bananas. I really like a nice clear transparent glass, and I think the base glass used for the bananas is some of the best out there, crystal clear and bright, right up there with the base glass Vitro used for their Victories.

No UV or AV in mine. IMO it's the base glass along with the orange and white ribbons that distinguish the Antifreezes. They kind of look like they could be a common Rainbo but they are far from common.

Above is part of a post Charles W. made about these marbles back in 2005. According to him, it was a Peltier employee who gave them the "windshield" name.
