  1. I only collect old marbles, marble-related items and dust.
  2. Wow . . . now that's a decent marble, for sure! . . . a forever keeper in my book. What a beauty.
  3. Thanks for the link, Galen. It is a nice article.
  4. Nice marbles, Gregg. The CAC slags and same-canes are great.

    Yellow Submarine

Wild, It would be pretty hard to miss that in an Amsterdam canal - it sticks out like a sore thumb. It's neat . . . but it really seems out of place.
  6. I noticed the pulley gearing too. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the heads are not evenly spaced around the sphere . . . sorta looks like the marble could be spit out pretty easily. But honestly, I know next to nothing about these machines.
  7. Here you go Miser: Canton, OH. Holiday Inn 4520 Everhard Rd. NW Canton, OH 44718 330-494-2770 I hope to see you there.
  8. It looks like your getting the new photo setup dialed in - nice pics. The marbles are killers! Do you know if that last one exists as a swirl?
  9. Hey Bill, It could have just been a fluke. It sounds like you've been pretty happy with the PO service up to now. Maybe if you just give the folks you know down there a heads up, or perhaps you could put a hold on the mail to your PO box for a couple of weeks until the package arrives. I hope they would hold everything until you pick it up and release the hold, and there's no harm asking them about your situation specifically. How badly do you want that board? lol.
  10. Hi Bill, What a bummer. Does Royal Mail have some type of signature-required service? If they do, you might give that a try. I think the delivery person will leave you a note asking you to pick it up at the post office if you are not around, and it sure seems like they'd give you at least a few days to do it.
  11. The pics are not good on the first one. The only non-Vacor possibility I can think of is a CAC Red Devil. If so, someone just got one heck of a deal.
  12. Edna, I'm a little confused by this post. Why did you start off with JABOs?
  13. The same, as in, a Vacor misidentified. I should have been more specific.
  14. I think that first one is the same as this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Akro-Agate-Indian-Blanket-Swirl-Marble-Oxblood-Mint-/171091849053
  15. You paint a pretty funny mental image, I must say. But seriously, if you tell me the diameter of the marble and the weight of both pieces . . . Please be careful with these kind of questions, Bob. They're like nerd-nip.
  16. If that's a 3/4" marble, it's volume is about 0.221 cubic inches. You could probably get a reasonable estimate of the disk (stand) using pi x radius^2 x height.
  17. I think this one will work: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boys_Life
  18. I could go with a triple forkscrew . . . size, pattern and color - but the brightness and greenish-tint of the yellow still makes me wonder.
  19. Interesting . . . the bag looks too big for the box and the marbles are obviously wrong but it's a cool box. Do you think it might have been a prize in an associated contest - perhaps a comic sheet applied over the cover of a regular No. 115 . . . if there are regular #115s? I went out to answer my own question and found this:
  20. Venwood, I'm sorry that my opinion is all I'll be able to offer at the moment. Finding them would be far more work than I care to expend.I failed to mention that those gallons of Classics are out in the garage buried under several other boxes of marbles. Maybe someone else will chime in. And FWIW, I've seen Jorkscrews in Akro keeper boxes.
  21. And I'll be on the lookout for May - December for you.
  22. I don't recall Big Time, Steph, but there are Big Shot boxes and Playtime bags . . . perhaps a case of conflation?
  23. Cool Steph! Any idea how many episodes in the series?
  24. I'm pretty sure I have one of these around here somewhere but it's likely in with a few gallons of other Classics. If I recall correctly, there is far more yellow than transparent. Imagine a typical Jorkscrew but with clear transparent striping on an opaque yellow base - outliers I believe.
