  1. Cool Peltier, Duffy. I think some folks call those a Santa Claus . . .the name is dedicated to Guy Gregg, if I am not mistaken. Chuck G. would know for sure. I don't think they're too easy to find. I had one but it was beat to heck.
  2. Hmmm . . . it does look kinda familiar. I think it might have been attached to a paddle by a rubberband at some point in time.
  3. Well, that sure cleaned up nice. Merry Christmas, Ronnie.
  4. Very nice, Winnie. Kees did a great job. Merry Christmas and happy new year to both of you too!
  5. Nice find - I like the white slag.
  6. Those are great examples, Al. Thanks a lot for posting them. I'm guessing the green Champion headers are later?
  7. And to think that there are REAL PEOPLE who had to go in there, see and document that horrific scene, collect evidence, and recover the bodies, and others who will have to clean up the physical space. I don't think I could do it. In my opinion, those people who have enough fortitude to do what must be done deserve much respect. My heart goes out to each and every one of them.
  8. It doesn't appear there are many, if any, more marbles in those Champion mesh bags than the Champion Jr. Mesh bags I've seen. But I do notice they all have a big shooter, which is something I have not seen in the Champion Jr. mesh bags.
  9. Innocent children murdered in cold blood. It's unbelievably tragic. My heart goes out to those children, their families, and everyone else involved. I'd say those teachers deserve a medal and a big hug too. I can't imagine going back there Monday morning or whenever they will have to.
  10. Well, the kid is the same on both types of box . . . when did the knickers with argyles look go out of style? It seems "Champion" may have been a long running marketing theme. And since Peltier and Pink were thick as thieves, it would make sense that they shared graphics - maybe even the same design and print shops.
  11. The "Champion" headers I've seen with Pelts are green on poly with Rainbos or Banannas in them. The "Champion Jr" labels I've seen are checkerboard with orange and black letters (like old MK labels) on mesh bags, or red on the poly bags I've seen. Steph, I think "Champion" was a pretty popular marketing word, in general. Did the box have Pelts in it?
  12. Have you ever seen just "Champion" on a mesh bag?
  13. Clyde, CB seems to think that those mixed bags were one of a kind and only put together for the advertising campaign. I'd be interested to know if anybody, other than the folks who were there at the time, has ever had one in hand. I have the same 100 ct bag and header but it has all St. Mary's Alleys in it. On another note, is it odd that I don't see any trace of a verticle seam on the advertising card bag?
  14. They were packaged in mesh bags, for sure. And I'm pretty sure I've seen Champion Jr. headers on Poly bags too.
  15. RE: Chuck's box. Did Master ever package Akro marbles while Akro was still in business? I thought that the "Masters" did not leave Akro on the best of terms. And since the principals were from Akro, would it be too surprising that some of their earliest production might look similar? I'd guess the marbles in Chuck's box are early Masters. I edited this post because the last thing I would ever want to do is "fuzzle" Steph. lol
  16. Chuck, If I found one of those, I wouldn't even consider Pelt or MK. Am I missing something?
  17. Chuck, Is that slice from the Official Ringer Rules published by Master in the early 1930s one of the dividers?
  18. Craig, Are you saying you haven't seen marbles like those in the boxes you show as singles in the wild? Clyde, Nice bag, are you sure it's from 1957? If so, it seems some of those marbles must have been laying around for a good long while before they were packaged.
  19. I don't think the box is from Akro, and given the size and look of the marbles, I think there's a fair possibility they are dug.
  20. Wow Craig, Beautiful marbles - what a great find!
  21. Am I glad you figured out how to put pics up here - those are really nice!
  22. I can easily go with Galen and Mark - Rainbo . . . it's a bigger tent. lol. Regardless, it's the only one I have with green in the base glass. The base is transparent, it just has some green filaments in it. It's kinda cool. Thanks for the help all!
  23. Is green in the base uncommon?
