  1. Cool . . . marbles to sort . . . the more the merrier! Have fun, and good luck with that surgery.
  2. Thanks again, Galen. I kinda figured those might be Japanese Transitionals, although I had no idea they could get to 1". Your remarks on the feathery one make good sense to me too. I'll do my best to get that one in your hands in Canton - it'd be nice to finally meet you.
  3. Yeah . . . Have a great Birthday! And hope to see ya' soon . . . you're not too old to remember that the show is this Saturday . . . right? lol
  4. And then there are these . . . The smallest is a shade over 1/2" and the largest is 19/32". Some are out-of-round. They are hand-gathered but I don't know if they are entirely hand-made or transitionals, and whether they are showing pontils or cut-offs. If anyone has any information on these I would appreciate hearing it. And if anyone else has examples of slags with prominent seams or cutoffs, please show them. Thanks
  5. Yes, aventurine. Sorry about that - I apparently misunderstood your wording.
  6. I would say condition, AV not apparent in the pics, and too high of a starting bid.
  7. Thanks, Galen. If you can enlarge the last pics I posted of it, you might get a better feel for the construction. Those feathery white wisps sure look to be "coiled" like a hand-gather pattern, could just be luck though, I guess. I was actually thinking it might be a HG CAC. Any probability of that? Here's a couple with two seams . . .
  8. Just a purty 3/4" . . .
  9. Coupla' more at 3/4"+ . . .
  10. Here's another at 25/32" . . .
  11. Galen, I do have some nice ones laying around but I don't pay enough attention to them. And I was seriously thinking hand-gathered on that blue one but is that possible for Pelt other than the Cerises?
  12. Somehow got the same post twice. Move it along . . . there's nothing to see here . . . lol
  13. Here is what I believe is a hand-gathered marble with a prominent cut line . . .
  14. Rich, I may have used the term erroneously so I've removed it. As far as I know, "diaper fold" was originally used to describe the single-seam and ribbon configuration on certain entirely machine-made CAC slags. The striping on the marbles loops around from one side of the seam and back to the other side. Here is a diagram, which I believe shows the archetypal pattern and is attributed to Alan.
  15. A little feathering . . .
  16. My guess is American. Here's another . . .
  17. Here are a few (kinda dirty) single-seamed slags I recently acquired, 11/16"-3/4".
  18. I've been searching for a yellow/green/white tricolor for a good long while. So what do I find? This . . .
  19. Those are nice colors on the shooter, Don. I like the bubbly yellows too. Here's a few more 6-ribbon rainbos I recently acquired. The Sunset is a first for me . . . I've got plenty with 4-ribbons though.
  20. Hello Jay, Rest assured, Duffy has seen plenty of hand-ground agates and provided as sound of advice as you'll likely get anywhere. No doubt, there is a market for these marbles. There are currently several examples on EBay that you could watch to get an idea of market values. In fact, the reputable marble seller that Ruth referred to has an exceptional example listed here. My recommendation would be to heed the advice you've been given. Regards, -Ric
  21. Just a seam, Rich. Here's another pic . . .
  22. No doubt, some of the classics can be really nice!
  23. 21/32", translucent blue base with six ribbons comprised of horsehair oxblood.
