Hmm, Griff you wouldn't be devulging a favorite fishing hole on this public board, now would you? lol! Is that the lake with the sixteen inch yellow bellies you were talking to me about?? God Bless! -
I will try to dig some out tomorrow and take some pics. I have a little red cat eye book I have thumbed through, maybe it's time to reread it again. God Bless

Very cool find indeed! Those at the bottom with the aventurine in them blows my mind! Makes me wonder what else they were rolling out at the time to get that inside there... hmm Very cool! I will definately be looking closer at cat's from now on. Where horse-shoe cat's made by many different companies or just one? I am wondering as I have a few handfulls of them in all sorts of different baseglass and color ribbon combos. Just curious, and thanks in advance! God Bless

2008 Jabo Classics: The Experimentals

Wow Steve! That cover looks awesome! I wish they could have kept the mibs overlapping without making a big white outline around them though. All in all it looks awesome! Who's your graphics man? They did a heck of a job! lol God Bless you and Elizabeth. Lot's of hard work and longs hours went into this book and it is fantastic. I love that I can use it to ID marbles that I have here. Before I just knew they were Jabo beauties, but now I can tell exactly when, who and what run they came from. Very, Very Nice work! -
Just Curious Question For Ya

I think we could get an equal stream, or short stream by making a few minor adjustments. If we could indeed adjust what I think we need to adjust to get it just right. Would take a bit of testing but once we have it nailed down, we would have it forever. And of course, it would have to be kept top secret! lol Just an idea as I am in no way a marble maker. Just a wannabe! lol I think we could do it though, that's only one way that I am thinking it could be done. PM me if you want to know my other idea for getting patches without the V folds. Being an engineer for over 12 years, although I am medically retired now, I think I have a good idea what we could change or adjust to get it to work. Nothing major by any means. Griff, I am seriously thinking of actually having you do some construction for me. Maybe we could go in on it as partners. If all works out this summer like I think it should, you could do the labor and mechanical engineering and I would be able to back it financially. Of course I would want to give a few others a chance to get in on it if they wanted. Anyways, enough of my ramblings. God Bless! -

Depends when the run would be. But I would love to be counted amoung you. God Bless -
One thing I have noticed, maybe others have as well, is that the same people complaining about Jabo this and that are the same ones that seem to keep posting to the Jabo threads and keep them at the top. Ironic? Or is this just another conspiriacy! lol Also, just want to thank Lou for the topic's page as well as the easy to read list of post's along with their subject line. It sure makes it easy to pick out what I like and pass over what my not grab my attention at the moment. There is also a neat feature that lets you flip the page and see even more post's, and you can even do a search to find the things that you may be wanting to read or reply too. Thanks Lou! God Bless!

Great minds think alike! I have had some similiar discussions with a great guy who knows his stuff. After seeing a machine in action, the engineering side of my brain came back to life, briefly... lol I have some idea's that I think are killer and some that will affect the glass which may give some interesting results in the final product.... as long as it hasn't been done before and that's the key. I just don't know if some things have already been done, or worse yet have an existing patent on them. If I had a marble machine and a furnace in my out building I could be testing this stuff daily but alas, there is only a lawn mower and boxes of my things my wife thought were better suited for the building than the house. lol Let's get a team together and some investors and make this happen. I vote we build it here in my out building, it's brand new! God Bless!

That's a nice blue! God Bless -
Right on Mike, very nice to know that I am not a sigularity. I collect because I love glass and I love Jabo's because it was something I could be involved in or atleast rub eblows and here the stories of those that were involved long before I came along. I would love to talk to someone who made Cac's or Pelts and even see them being made today but that is just not in the cards. To me, or imho as some say, Jabo's are just as beautiful as any other marble ever made, whether it was over a hundred years ago or just last week. I can only encourage others to get involved with Jabo's special runs as well. For one, Jabo marble runs are as fun as heck and you will have a great time with great people. Secondly, no matter how many runs are done, they are all different and unique unto themselves. And each run has it's very own history, and stories as well as the people involved. That makes it all the more special and beautiful in so many ways. For me, it's not about an investment. I really don't understand the whole investment concept at all. Maybe it's just me, but if your collecting to get a return on your investment, where is the passion? Unless your passion is making more money? Marbles and glass are my passion, it's something I could live, dream and breathe everyday for the rest of my life, and God willing, beyond. I can see where those folks are coming from when they talk about the possibility of their investment not turning over as good as they had hoped for any number of reasons. But there is no passion for the art that I can see. Passion is loving something no matter if it's priceless now, or someday in the future... Or if it doesn't have a monitary value any higher than that horse poo under the Christmas tree and may never have. I suppose collecting marbles is a love for me and for some others out there, and let's face it... love is unconditional, it's also blind, and it has nothing to do with money. May you all find your passion in life and run after it with all your heart, soul and strength! God Bless,

In your sample pic of marbles 36, I have some with blue aventurine and mica, and some with green. I even have a few with both and they are way cool even though they are small they packed alot of beauty in such a small package. I didn't care for the little ones at first but they are definately growing on me. There are some of the small ones you will find with a fine red line on them that seems to come out of no where. A little birdie pointed it out to me and I went looking for them. The guy that pushed the rod on those is an amazing guy and it makes them all the more special. Thanks "little birdie!" If you hadn't pointed that out to me I would have not found those or know exactly how that line got there. You da man! God Bless! p.s. I think I have some of the number 40's that have lutz lines on them, albeit fine. -

Hey, that's a good point. Not being an expert myself, but logically it does make sense with what little I do know. lol Maybe we can get some handmade collectors to respond to this thread and answer that one way or the other. God Bless! -

The only thing I see, and I am no expert by any stretch, but the bottom left picture makes it look taller than it is round. Maybe it's just the photo? -
Indeed! I am waiting on my backpay from dear ol' Uncle Sam. Hopefully it will be here sooner than later but it will be here. Thanks to Bill for the info, and I am hitting them hard bud! lol So, I will have some, after my house is completed and my wife gets onboard, mad money to go make some marbles. I have a idea for a theme on a run and already ran it by a few people who seem to like it. I also want to keep the idea alive that got me and the wife down there and pass it on to someone who is interested but hasn't participated in something like this before. May there be many, many more runs in the future! God Bless! p.s. I will have to take some extra time off to visit with Sam and maybe we could even get away and do some fishing. My brother's mouth hit the floor when I told him about those yellow perch! lol That's a trip we have to take as well!

It was a very cool production. I learned one important thing, among the many things I learned while down there in the company of great people. It didn't hit me until well after the run was over and I was home going over my mibs with my lovely wife. When the run first started I was so excited to see the "color" come out in the mibs. They put in some lutz, some mica and green aventurine if I am not mistaken, but I was waiting for some "color". I will chalk it up to being new, not only to mibs but to the whole process and creation in general. What I learned hit me at home while looking over these first mibs that were run. They are translucent, full of wisps of white, green, mica and lutz and they are my favorites out of all the mibs that were run down there. I just love that you can look "into" the soul of the marble and each one tells a different tale. So lovely, so striking, so perfect! I just love them, can you tell? They are all wonderful but these first ones, out of the three quarter machine are my absolute favorites. Maybe I'll get some pictures posted up soon, but I am notoriously slow about these things! lol God bless!

The tongue is still swollen which is why I have to talk on these boards and through email instead of making phone calls. The doctor said I shouldn't loose too much of the girth or length but my taste will never be the same. lol Oh well, live and learn!
-
Might want to check that champange patch for lutz. I think I see a hint of it on the seventh pic down. It's a fine line that just caught my eye. Or maybe it's just late and my glasses are dirty again. lol God Bless

Yeah, hmm..... come to think of it, that one wierd guy with the fish all over his shirt was letting a lot of those roll down the shute. Where did you get that shirt again Griff? It was very cool actually and those fish were killer!

Marble Related Story........
glangley replied to Akro gatherer's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
lol Love the last line, but only because I was there and saw the aftermath of your near miss. lol Some will read that and think that it has something to do with the COE not matching within Jabo's, which of course is way off. I will let you tell the story if you like, lol It could have been a very bad thing, you must have had an angel with a mib deflecting shovel on your shoulder that day! lol Hope your doing well, say hi to your brother for me! God Bless you guys! -
That's crazy funny! Very cool! I have a few Jap cat-eye mibs I could spare for something like this. I know my daughter would love it. She just loves the top that Dave gave her when we went down for the marble fun run. God Bless!
