Unicorns, Dragons And The Mfc Persian Oxblood

Here are a couple moss agate types to help everyone appreciate MFC and realize they are not just slags and bricks (onyxes and carnelians!) -
I have posted a few marbles over the years that I thought were MFC Persian oxbloods and none of them really fit the bill. They are a simple concept, a Persian turquoise marble and a carnelian (brick) mixture. It seems plausible that they would exist seeing that MFC mixed marbles in batches. It's likely that they were error marbles and that maybe there was some carnelian left over in the pot before turquoise batch was mixed and the result of the first punty from the bottom of the pot grabbed some oxblood and mixed it in. I doubt they were an intended run or we would see more, this is the first I've seen that has actual MFC carnelian. Brian told me he found a piece of this marble type when he excavated MFC but also attributed it to an error. Maybe he will chime in. Anyway here are the pics, any opinions positive or negative are welcome. It's pictured next to another MFC HG Persian turquoise Ps, MFC doesn't get its due respect imho.... Craig

I have four of these all different sizes, they are not easy to find. Maybe they were supposed to be electric orange? I have one where the whole outside is color, I have two where the base glass fluoresces wildly and the other two don't!
-
Those are burnt orange slags
-
Those aren't true pistachio. I reserve that for alley. The base glass in those pics I posted are more like a light mint color, but they do fluoresce with black light. They are mint with, transparent red, transparent green, lavender, and black with gray.

The way BG explained it to me is similar but I'll dumb it down. The copper before it binds fully is going give a green like blue green, then as it binds it turns to oxblood not ruby red transparent and if you let it bind fully it turns to lutz/adventure but that's at the very end if you let it cook and cook. That's why you get some green slags then some have a little oxblood in them, then green bricks which is like half and half, then some bricks with just a hint of green and the just oxblood bricks. Why no AV/lutz bricks you ask? These came out of a pot and the glass was used up, the mixed again up again. Plus their quality control was crazy good.
