  1. There is not enough of these around to have a following, and they don't really have the shelf appeal to stand on their own merits. From that I would guess they have rather nominal value separately. I would think they would have more value left together as a collection. Somebody took the trouble to collect these from 2 or more marble runs, or perhaps made them intentionally. As such, they are an interesting curiosity, even intriguing.
  2. If it does not feel like glass maybe its plastic? How about an antipersperant roller ball?
  3. These are all Mega Marbles. Red/yellow on blue is a serpent and red on green is a ninja turtle. I am not sure about the other names.
  4. Its a golden rebel without the gold, in other words a rebel :|
  5. I wanted to send this dealer a q, "Who is Stephen Strasburg?", but I resisted.
  6. Based on the picture I would guess $50 was reasonable. It could go either way, good deal or bad, depending on the details. If it was me, I would ask for more pictures.
  7. Communication requires a sender, a receiver, and feedback. If you receive feedback that your communication failed, how can you blame the receiver? Go ahead and pity me too, because "its pity i feel for 1 with such skill" sounds like an insult to me. Not that I care. Actually, I don't even know what you are talking about beyond this post. Guess I'm an imbicile for failing to decode your message. Dang. I probably need to clarify my own words. It may appear that I am angry, but I am not. I just wanted to make a point about communication in general, in the spirit of this topic.
  8. Okay I will be the bad guy. Sorry these are fantasy bags and not vintage. There are a lots of different fantasy bags, but they tend along not so many themes. For example, there are 5 or 6 different gas station promo bags. See http://www.gaiser.org/marbles/albidx.htm and http://reviews.ebay.com/Antique-Marble-Buyer-apos-s-guide_W0QQugidZ10000000000785129
  9. Looks like a German sparkler to me too, even though this is more swirly and colorful and lacks characteristic orange peel.
  10. Peltier did an aqua slag of course. Don't know why they could not have done some rainbows in that glass. Is that different from teal?
  11. I have not seen it and I looked at a lot.

    Vitro Opals

I was around when the opals were named. They were originally called fire opals by a Minnesota collector around 1998. I was calling them a different name, cloudies, but I liked his name better
  13. Good catch. I missed the size. Pelt did not make slags anywhere near that large, at least not the feathered kind.
  14. Peltier made this color slag, but this one could be anyones.
  15. Sounds like an honest mistake. People in general are very willing to believe they have a treasure. It does look a little like a layered sand, if you never seen one before.
  16. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Feb-07-10 at 17:24:27 PST, seller added the following information: PS...I've had several people tell me this is marble was made from a cullet. If they are right about this, then please bid accordingly !! Thanks to all for the heads up !! on both auctions now.
  17. I think that most or all black is just a dense saturation of some other dark color. I have a Pelt mulicolor that you would swear has an opaque black base. You have to hold it just right in bright sun to see the "transparent" green base. Same thing with an Akro blue oxblood ashtray I own. You can only see blue if you look very close at one certain spot in very bright sun, otherwise it's black.
  18. It does have a Master look to it...
  19. I doubt that it was made as a fake. The quality is too poor and "R.E." is not sexy. It makes more sense that some kid initialed their marble. Who knows when or why that happened, but now it is a signed marble, and possibly one of the first signed marbles. No proof though, too bad.
