  1. I was thinking Bennett but I couldn't remember his name. Most of his were right around 3/4". Just didn't recall the characters it was so long ago that I bought a couple boxes from him. I can remember though calling him and his wife in the background saying yes about the boxes being available. I believe he has died. If anyone knows to the contrary please resurrect the poor man! Unfortunately I do not have the boxes anymore. David
  2. Don't worry bubba, you're good! Whatever this Jiggs is it's a misfire and I think the jig is up! David
  3. I must be losing it. Is that pink vanes or pink glass? I won't bother you with this again. Either way, PINK is important and everyone knows that Felicia has 'pink on the brain.' Pics were kind of blurry. David Don't know how i managed to go right by that and miss it!
  4. I'll be damned! Is that pink pic in another thread? What's the title? I'll go looking......David Is that the Moonie type cat's-eye thread?
  5. Somehow those colors just don't look right. Oops, it's a Peltier not a Marble King Cub Scout. Duh! You know, I could see someone saying the same thing about a Jabo similarly identified with the name from another company....."Hey! Those colors just don't look right!" So, anyway....size. You see a wealth of MK 1" Cub Scouts but never, hardly ever a big one like this in a NLR Peltier. David
  6. Witnesses and have the opening videoed or at least photographed. I don't see any pink cat's-eyes. Never have for that matter although I have Vitro Anacortes cat's-eyes in pink glass. Really, pink glass? That is so cool. I have to go back and look at those bags again and see if I can detect the cross-throughs. And did it say Berry Pink on the box? My short term memory must be shot! I'll get back to this and Edit! David Yeah, BERRY PINK bold as day. That makes it a killer display item. I only can see one color cat's-eyes. You got anything against opening one of those bags from the open box? Be nice to see those cross-thrus. I have no idea what the price for something like this would be. I generally prefer fixed prices but on something like this maybe taking offers or at least considering them at a show. Anyway, it would be spectacular to open a box at a show but probably be prepared on the spot to transact!
  7. Yeah, me too. Any indication as to size? Jiggs and Maggie were much earlier than the regular Peltier comic characters although there might have been some overlap with a couple/few of them. Maybe the person just misidentified Jiggs! David
  8. Looks like you'll be getting some last minute action with this marble. David
  9. I try to give it my best shot Felicia. Sometimes all I do is slice. Golf really ain't my game but Frisbee Golf that's an entirely different matter! David
  10. Big John, There could very easily be a BP in your future. Marbles happen! I was, of course, playing around with baseball terminology in my remarks rather than considering their specific import. I just can't help myself when I get going. David
  11. Any of the Mylees I've seen or had/have are of an entirely different character. I think you could spot them easily in a pinch. David
  12. They are going to have to double the WARNINGS on marble bags for these because these are 'Pop in Your Mouth Marbles!" David
  13. That's why they have the WARNING notices on marble bags you doofus! Now some doofus will take issue with my remarks here so let me emphasize before he/she goes off the deep end that it is said in jest!
  14. One would be 'teed off' if perchance they had been buffed. You don't see Akro pee wee corks all that often; clearly you've hit a hole in one with these! David
  15. Marble king has regularly been turning out some interesting marbles other than Industrial. Fairly recently I got from Ron Shepherd and Mike Johnson these sets of five different colored marbles that they said were named Candy Stripes or Candy Canes. Nice. Plain and simple but nice. They do not yet appear to be on the contracted run bandwagon but who knows what might be in their future considering how well it has turned out for Jabo. Just conjecture.....David
  16. Bubba's 1st Borderline one I'd say was legit but the 2md one just isn't in the ballpark. Big John's is I'm afraid a foul ball! Sorry about that. I'm pretty sure the legit Berry Pink's have to have that traditional coloring. David
  17. According to Castle & Peterson the nine vane cat's-eye in one color and in three colors was made in a limited production in Japan. They had difficulty producing this marble according to C&P. David
  18. If I could figure out what the standard colors are these days I'd probably agree with you Al. Pastels do it for me too. David
  19. I think I remarked recently about an 'ugly' marble and was promptly upbraided for the same although almost as immediately forgiven when I stated it was done in jest. David
  20. I suggest something completely uninhibited for starters. Happy B-day! David
  21. If you can hold out 'till early August and scoot over to just north of Columbus(Worthington, OH) for the annual show and bring along a representative sampling you would have a lot of fun and I'm sure be treated kindly. David
  22. O.K. I'm not 100% sure about this but there are Guinea Cobras and Cobras in the Christensen Agate Co. nomenclature and sometimes the Cobras are called Cyclones. I'm assuming that when they call a cobra a cyclone it's because it takes on the swirling characteristic of a cyclone. In the Oxblood II Run there was one style that had the characteristics of a CAC Cobra. It was strictly oxblood within the marble in a Cobra configuration. Now I've often stated my feelings about name calling, marbles and otherwise! I think a name should naturally progress from the marbles evident appearance. I've mostly refrained from naming marbles but have named a limited few over the past 20+ years. I named two Alox marbles a long time ago, a Blue Phantom and a Green Phantom. In a couple of my Jabo articles I got carried away but I think within reason. And there's a couple other marbles that I can't rightly recall at the moment that I named over the years. I'm surprised I haven't named a Ravenswood Marble! I do know that in past years the name Bumblebee has been ascribed to at least 2 or 3 other marble company's marbles other than Marble King. The same has been done with a goodly number of other company marbles other than Jabo. It's human to look at a marble and see something about it and spontaneously say, that's just like a 'Glerk' or whatever and shorty thereafter you'll discover that other people are agreeing with you and not too long after that people are clearly stating that it is a 'Glerk' from such and such a company although not the original 'Glerk.' Excuse me but the goofy name 'Glerk' just came to me out of the blue. So, in that JOKER 'Oxblood Series II run when a particular marble had all the appearances of a Cobra you can see how it was a natural to call it one. I don't think any one of them at the run were thinking any disrespect, if anything they were thinking respect. Personally, of the Oxblood Series 'Cobras' I've seen I can't imagine anyone mistaking them. Now if someone when hearing the name for this marble being a Cobra and they automatically jump to the conclusion that it must be a Christensen Agate Co Cobra then I think they have made a wild ass leap totally unwarranted and indicative of a great need to know more about marbles. And if they've mortaged the farm to buy that marble then they are a fool in need of a lesson. I'm not necessarily defending the marble naming but I wanted to bring some more lattitude to an understanding of the situation and what has been going on from time immemorial in marble naming. I should add that I think too much Jabo marble naming has been going on but I do not believe any of it has been down to deceive any more than there has been an attempt to deceive in the same naming of marbles from companies other than Jabo. Most of the marble naming of Jabo marbles have been totally off-the-wall names that no one could mistake unless again they just were completely lacking in any marble knowledge. David
  23. cat's-eye Jack, The one color that you appear to be missing with those 3/8" MK pee wees is white. They came in five different colors. It is my fervent wish that the term 'wee wee' not be adopted for exceedingly small pee wee marbles. Yikes! David
