Some older (more German) slags

I'd go with Pelt top right in post #12, and maybe post #9. Rest look like Marble King maybe (or something other than Pelt or Akro)? Just my guess, and of course I haven't seen them all

If you mean 3rd edition, plate 338 is a slightly different angle. not much, but same marble (just happened to have the book beside me and got to flipping through the pages).

So is it safe to say nobody around here has examples of these in original packaging? And the two color opaque handgathered examples as shown are the only type this company made (or would it make sense they made slags, and others etc...)

Quite possible. Quality control sometimes calls for things other than aesthetics. ie: the marble needs to be round, so it rolls. And if it's chipped or damaged in production they probably wouldn't spend the time to finish it/ship it/etc. Don't get me wrong I think the colors and patterns are beautiful. Also the group of three look awesome together

To me these examples look like they didn't pass muster at the time (for roundness or quality) and probably got junked. They really are pretty though

I think it all depends on how well the 'attempt' went. Surely there was some type of quality control so if the first-off cane looked half decent and was reasonably round they would take the time to grind the pontil and finish it off. If it was terribly out of round or had debris/scorch mark etc it would get junked.

Going back to the first picture, in the first post, on the platform is there any reason you couldn't have a trough (connecting the holes) or multiple troughs (leading up to each hole) instead of just a hole?

CAC made slags this small (and sometimes smaller) so it is possible...I'll defer to the CAC collectors

I'm fairly confident in saying European on the original post. The color combo, pattern, and grain-iness to the green are all indicators

Interesting project, and welcome to the board! Not sure what the end project is going to be or why 5 separate slots but I think I've got a rough idea of what you're asking A couple suggestions. There's obviously a bottle neck at the top where the two marbles bridge across the available opening like this \**/, where you want this \ * / right?. A result of the interface between the horizontal and vertical surface not being wide enough (needs a more gradual taper to the funnel) Or the 'release' wire shutting the tube too quickly before gravity allows the next one to take it's place. That's a bit more complicated and could require another piece of wire and zip tie, off the solenoid. If I were doing something like this, a V-shaped trough full of marbles above an auger that spans the five slots, and each 'revolution' on the auger would move a marble horizontally from a 'safe' position (not over a hole), to a released position (over a hole). Hmm. Hard to say. Colors are a lot darker in the second set of pics. Are the cold-roll lines that apparent in hand or is it from camera magnification?
