I think it all depends on how well the 'attempt' went. Surely there was some type of quality control so if the first-off cane looked half decent and was reasonably round they would take the time to grind the pontil and finish it off. If it was terribly out of round or had debris/scorch mark etc it would get junked.

Going back to the first picture, in the first post, on the platform is there any reason you couldn't have a trough (connecting the holes) or multiple troughs (leading up to each hole) instead of just a hole?

Here's a couple more white marbles, L-R I'm thinking CAC, German (Greiner) and Akro

I'm fairly confident in saying European on the original post. The color combo, pattern, and grain-iness to the green are all indicators

Interesting project, and welcome to the board! Not sure what the end project is going to be or why 5 separate slots but I think I've got a rough idea of what you're asking A couple suggestions. There's obviously a bottle neck at the top where the two marbles bridge across the available opening like this \**/, where you want this \ * / right?. A result of the interface between the horizontal and vertical surface not being wide enough (needs a more gradual taper to the funnel) Or the 'release' wire shutting the tube too quickly before gravity allows the next one to take it's place. That's a bit more complicated and could require another piece of wire and zip tie, off the solenoid. If I were doing something like this, a V-shaped trough full of marbles above an auger that spans the five slots, and each 'revolution' on the auger would move a marble horizontally from a 'safe' position (not over a hole), to a released position (over a hole). Hope this helps! when it's patented for millions don't forget

CAC sure has quite a range between post #4 and #12. Different time frames or maybe a dedicated production line? Nice Marbles either way

Well the 'shocking' joke was in reference to the capacitors in Tube amps can zap you, even when powered down/unplugged. One of the output channels on my receiver/tube amp isn't working and I wonder if it's worth poking around (with my limited electrical knowledge), take it to a professional, or sell as-is. Since i hold most of the Marble Connection members in high regard, figured if one of them was also a member (or knew of) a good vintage audio forum it would save me some trial and error. Kind of like if I were a member on a car forum (or whatever) and somebody asked me about a good marble site I'd send them here- 13 replies

Don't worry, still a couple pieces we can chat about. Like this ol' blister, might just keep it and clean it up some. Maybe start with the electrical cord? The stories I've heard about tube amps and capacitors are a bit shocking as well (more along the lines what I was looking for input on.)- 13 replies

Marble From Goodwill Thrift Store

Very possible! I still appreciate the figure and the level of detail, but this one doesn't look as round. Merry Christmas -

Any fellow marble collectors that can narrow it down, better than a google search? Looking for some input on a couple vintage pieces (tube amp receiver and old turntables to be specific). Something along the lines of a 'Marble Connection' comradery so I don't get lambasted lol

Largest Vintage Handmade?
I'llhavethat1 replied to I'llhavethat1's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Cool! If that's the case,we'd be talking about a cane that was over 2" diameter and at least 10" long (give or take) . Probably a couple glass workers here that could tell us if that's a reasonable possibility, modern days or otherwise? Assuming of course they are from the same cane. And one of the marbles isn't pictured twice lol. -
Cool, I have the first set pictured except red plastic board instead of wood. Similar marbles and box, just different board. Nice group

Where are the color pictures so we can see what rustproof aluminoid looks like?

If not a sulphide, any idea what the original figure was originally meant for?

Similar construction on all three, but the one on the left glows brightly. Haven't seen a cutoff like it on an Akro before, but maybe it is?
