Nice pictures, good detail. If you didn't have to sort through a whole bunch (ie: 10x as many pics) to choose those you're doing better than most Marbles can be tough to focus on. New Camera?

Here's a couple, I was really expecting to see more like these (which I've heard of as snotties before) Darn near impossible to get a picture and see the colors as they appear "in-hand", but I figured snotties and fingers kind of go together.

Nice, you really don't see the agates posted too much. Those are great examples, and good memories to go along with them!

jtay, if that were mine I'd have it in with my Peltiers. That of course wouldn't mean it's a Pelt, but the pattern looks convincing enough from the pics. What size? Frogfullmoon, great pattern on that 1st one.

That first one sure has a wild pattern! I've got a couple around that are only red & white that I was never quite sure since the pattern seemed too crazy for pelt. Red white AND green is even better, and really shows that pelt were capable of making some marbles that even make their later baseballs look pretty boring.

They certainly all share the same type of style/colors and fill in a "gap" between onionskins and banded coreless. Some examples ranging closer to either of those styles, but great looking marbles no matter what they're called. I've heard colorful onionskins (with bright opaque colors) sometimes referred to as clowns. Is it possible for an onionskin to be on a base other than white or yellow? ie: clear?

Wow, that's really interesting stuff! I sort my machine mades by "some of these don't quite look like the others" and a couple in question almost look like some that you've posted, in my opinion. I may have posted these pictures before, what do you think? OK, been a while since I posted a pic here...let's try this again From part II, and yes those green/red/black ones are cool too

I'm liking some of these machine mades, really the "pink" & blue and the some of the others in the "clown" picture. Very nice

Pretty cool! Can't say I've seen the 2nd or 3rd down in that size. Not to bring up the topic of flaming dragon vs regular dragon but the non-white based 2-color shooters aren't something seen too often (by me anyway)

Thanks for the reply. Since oils (snake oil, mineral oil etc.) can leach into cracks for a short term "restoration" would this affect keep a marble from being cooked? I've wondered about this for awhile since seeing it suggested, and knowing oils can penetrate and having a hard time getting it back out. I suppose they could burn off if the glass gets that hot, but do these restored marbles get cooked that hot?

Does "cooking" get rid of chips or subsurface moons without removing glass? Or is "cooking" just for helping fix internal fractures? I never understood exactly what happens to a marble when it's "cooked" other than it's a way of restoration...which makes a bit of sense if I picture somebody polishing an ice sculpture with a blow torch. Am I way off?

From the top, some of those almost look similar to Akro corkscrews. Here's a couple red & whites that tried shining up good. "Mystery" marble companies sound like a scooby doo adventure, let's hear more!

It must be something about the symmetry of caged marbles that make them appealing. Looks like you've got a good start on a nice group. I'm a fan of the blue/white cores. I can't explain why, but I think white cage (are we defining cage as more than a dozen?) is more common, followed by yellow, then orange, maybe red, green, blue, purple, etc. Alternating colors must fit in there somewhere so I'm not sure of the specifics. I suppose a latt surrounding a solid core (or other) could still be considered a cage. Nice one Road Dog Mica or Lutz on latt/solid/ribbon swirls would definitely stand out in a crowd. Can't say I've seen one but sure they're out there. Roger, yikes! That stands out in a crowd as well

Did Akro Agate ever make anything out of Agate? SOme of their slag-types were also referred to as Onyx, weren't they?

Reverse gathered handmades are out there, and it could either be from the left hand... or just the right hand looking for a break from twisting clockwise all the time? Heck, I don't know It makes sense that some machine mades could be running backwards by mistake. Cool article btw

Looks good, haven't seen that 9 pattern so well defined on vaseline glass. Other marbles shown are pretty nice too. What's to stop someone from taking a picture, reversing the image, and ..? I've been thinking about so many 6's and 9's that I grabbed a piece of paper and had to scribble a couple in reverse to compare how they're really supposed to look. No, wait... that's backwards (or is it?)

An amazing find and that yellow/red/green lightning really stands out. Can't say I've even seen a plain one in hand, or a ribbon onionskin. Cool marbles, I really dig seeing some odd handmades. Haven't used the search feature yet, but any input on how the Lightning's came to be? Early/Late in terms of other handmades? Limited market (ie. Europe, like some of those other not-just-your-everyday handmades)? 2-pontil (why just color on the sides rather than pole to pole)? Ground pontil? Just curious, I could search but you seem like a fellow enthusiast that wouldn't mind a few questions. While on topic of seeing a couple really rare types, are "chevrons" plentiful over there too?

Couldn't find a red one, it's gotta be around some where (or just my imagination). To ID by manufacturer when it comes to this type, the best I can do is sort by ones that look alike. Don't be upset if there are a couple others that snuck in, I wouldn't bet my lunch when it comes to ID'ing machine mades but I like to learn.
