  1. oh my! that's the prettiest little nest o' vipers I ever saw.
  2. Winnie doesn't deserve the vitriol. And we readers don't deserve the insults to our mental capacity. Hijackings and vendettas are both against board guidelines. I agree that Galen appears to have called Dave M and Beri liars. But he did it after being pushed into a corner. Pushing him into that corner in Winnie's thread was an insult to her efforts.
  3. This one is being discussed at LOM right now and it's on ebay. It's small. 3/4". Said to have been dug personally by the seller, from a San Francisco privy. They showed a lot of other cool mibs they said they dug. (I'm not implying what they said isn't true, just saying "they said" coz I wasn't there when it happened.)
  4. Neat adventure! and ain't it just!
  5. The so what is that Winnie took the trouble to post some neat marbles here in a thoughtful way and her thread got hijacked. Time after time some of us tried to bring it back. But showing Galen up was so important that it was worth disintegrating the thread and potentially chasing Winnie off this board. That's so what. It ain't cool when someone busts up one of Edna's threads. It wasn't cool to bust up Winnie's thread. Start a new thread to make your point. When you bust up someone else's thread it makes it more likely people will think badly of you and miss whatever point you think is so important to make. in my humble opinion
  6. "Marbles Which Exist But Are Rarely Id-Ed . . ." , , , that's as opposed to marbles which don't exist but ARE ID-ed! lolol you know what I mean! I hope
  7. It just dawned on me that I don't recall ever seeing a marble ID-ed as an Akro Cornelian on the boards. Thought it might be fun to see some of the more obscure mibs folks have. Cornelians or otherwise. p.s. here's what Akro said about their Cornelians in 1926, seems like a pretty good pic (click to enlarge)
  8. lol. well, that shows you. now don't you feel sorry for thinking that her Jabo was modern.

    Vitro Buttermilks

So, Winnie, my guess is no buttermilk on the 2nd, because it doesn't have a blue band. On the first I would have thought not a buttermilk because it doesn't have an obvious 2nd red band. But that's based on my thoughts about the meaning of the red/blue band in the tri-lite article. Edit: ah, Dave was posting while I was! I'll let my guesses stand. And wait with bated breath for a Vitro person to tell me how close I am!
  10. Hi Bruce. Welcome! I joined your site - two of them I guess - on Facebook last night. Be seeing you around! -s

    Vitro Buttermilks

I saw that thread. He started it after I started this one. Someone might think he was trying to show me up. There are a couple of his I would like to have a 2nd opinion or more information on. But they're there and I can't ask. Welllll, I guess I could ask. Could post them here or at LOM. Maybe I will sometime. But for now, what about Winnie's? Do they fall into the buttermilk range? When the tri-lite article says "parallel red/blue band on the other side" does that mean both red and blue need to be present on the 2nd side? In a noticeable way? On one of Mary's shooters there appears to be just the black ribbon on the one side. I've heard more exceptions are allowed with shooters, which is why I asked what size Winnie's mib was. But what about with the 5/8" mibs? Is it important to have distinct ribbons of both colors?

minibump. p.s., what's the size on the 2nd one?
  13. My best age guess: 75 to 80 years old. Tempted to say closer to 80 than 75 but don't want to push it.

    Vitro Aquamarines

I thought Smitty had put his stamp of approval on those in Bob's pic. I know Chuck did. And since I don't even have one . . . LOL . . . I'll take 'em! So Dave, here's the lesson I'm taking from you: Don't Compromise. Tan is a must and if you vary, go dark. Do I have that right?
  15. If I recall correctly Morphy has sold marbles for higher. Anyone remember a particularly high dollar Naked Razor Ribbon Core? (is there any such marble or did I make that name up? lol)
  16. Let's be careful about jumping to conclusions about Bruce Hudson. We don't have any reason at this time to suspect that Pavcraz has Kentucky connections. Also, the fact that Bruce Hudson has started the Bluegrass site suggests more interest in marbles for their own sake than I've ever seen from Pavcraz.
  17. Something like that occurred to me. But as I said, it's mostly a curiosity to me. Pavcraz is a fraud. I don't need more proof. Before Pavcraz figured out that he should make his feedbacks private you could see the marbles he bought and how he repackaged them. He's even admitted to some of his frauds and said he did it to make money. In the most matter-of-fact way, like "naturally I would do it because I could get more money - DUH". Not those exact words but that was the gist. Kinda funny.
  18. Where do you see the may 1st date? The pix I saw in the facebook album were posted yesterday. It's not a big deal. Just wondering. Pavcraz is a proven fraud no matter what. Oh, I see, the may 1st date is at the blogspot.
  19. Very interesting. I don't necessarily see three seams. Could be two views of one of the seams. But this is very interesting find. Wonder what the Bluegrass club has to say about that particular marble. Maybe the Bluegrass guy is the person who won the auction and is using Pavcraz pix ?????
  20. It's cool when there's an article almost no matter what's in it. I'm used to embellishment. I'd be surprised if there weren't any. Do you know how many people invented the marble machine according to newspapers? Pert near everyone EXCEPT Dave McCullough. lol And to be the Ohio news of the day in USA Today?
  21. Thanks for the brown colt by the way! It had been a month since I had seen one announced! I only had one and needed a second. Now I have my horsie.
  22. Nice summary/intro to some of the hotter Jabos, David. I'll have to bookmark this.
